Sorry to jump ahead, but I am super excited about Tiger Baseball and it's not even Christmas yet. I was excited about last year's squad, but I can hardly sit still thinking about this year's team. Make room for poster #6 on your wall. What I love about the great recruits in baseball is that we get to see what they are made of as soon as they see the field - no adjustment time and all that jazz in baseball...

If Tasmin Mitchell decides to actually walk onto campus and Brandon Bass decides to hang around for another year, LSU will likely have the best 3 major sports program in America in 2005. We will have the talent on campus to finish in the Top 10 in football, basketball and baseball...

Yeah, but wouldn't it help if we had a Top 10-caliber basketball coach to make the most of that Top-10 caliber talent?

Kinda like making salmon fish upstream, what with the massive disadvantage we have at the head coaching position each time the game starts.

We might have something to say about that being #4, #13, and #2 right now.

But seriously, I can't wait for baseball season. I don't think it'd be much of a stretch to say that I'm more of a college baseball fan than basketball and football. I wish we'd get a series going with LSU.

Only time I've been to Alex Box was the day after we lost to Syracuse in the Final Four and I went to see LSU beat the crap out of South Carolina (Sunday game) on the way home.

You are Texas - everyone knows that those rankings will never be #1 at season's end. Hell, I look forward to the classy sportsmanship again next year after UT finishes #2 in Omaha again...

Except for the baseball title in 2002, of course. And the 4 other baseball ones.
Give me a break, sportsmanship smack? Finishing #2 smack? Would you rather finish #2 or go 2 and 'que?

Your response to my kidding post was the kind of insecurity that I expect out of A&M, not LSU.

  6. Hey Austin. Speaking of that. Did that deal with your coach blow over or are the horn faithful down on him? You guys do have a great athletics program.

I think it pretty much blew over. Heck, I had even forgotten about it. He's pretty much apologized for it and he went back to Omaha and has a press conference to apologize for it, so I (and the rest of the University) are ready to move on from it.

Well our whole baseball season next year depends on the pitching. Pitching is why we have lost in omaha 2 years in a row. We haven't really had a good enough pitching staff since 2000. Now I've heard that we should have a pretty good staff this year, and hopefully so.

I'm just glad college baseball is gaining more exposure. I can't wait til espn launches their all college channel, so they'll hopefully show some big games.

I hope to see you all at the Alumni game on Feb 5.!!

With the players we have this year we should have no problems returning to Omaha!!

I just can't wait for the first pitch!! Play ball! Geaux Tigers!

Getting to Omaha doesn't seem to be our problem ... winning a game once we get there is another story under Smoke.

I have always liked Smoke, but I gotta think he'll feel some pressure of performing well in Omaha this year.

Just another example of how high the bar is at LSU...
