Give Stoops some credit for recruiting him for crying out loud. He should be entitled to ride him to a legacy. Peterson grew up a lifelong die hard Longhorn Fan btw.

I'm not gonna get in a Stoops vs. Saban debate. Stoops is a great coach. Saban is a great coach. Saban does own his ass in one game that I don't like to recall. :cuss:

this is the norm for top coaches. they always use fear as leverage this time of year. its the norm like gumbo in S. La. on a cold, rainy day. they'll up the ante then Stoops will follow with his obligatory, "I will always be a Sooner bs". But this will be long after weeks of speculation as informed by his agent to bleed the turnip for all its worth.

I wonder why Tubby and Petey Carrol aren't mentioned for these vacancies. BTW Peabody- If OU wins the NC, will you change the Mr. Ed signature for us- I'm sure tirk could help you out.

The 4 mil sounds like more than a stretch to me. No way he gets paid that much. And no way in hell Florida offered that much (3.5 mil).

I won't argue with that. It seems a bit excessive.

I was not taking any credit away from Stoops. You misunderstood my point. I give Stoops all the credit in the world for landing a once in a generation type of kid. Beamer had Vick, and when it's all said and done, I think Stoops and Peterson will look back on their days in Norman and be very happy.

The discussion I was having was about Stoops and Saban and how they stack up. My point was simply that Stoops has a phenom that he will build the entire team around. Right this moment, Saban doesn't have that kid - therefore, as I was trying to point out, Stoops remains a step up (and a few years ahead) on Saban when comparing the two...

I really wouldn't say Saban owned him. That would be like saying Auburn owned us this year. From where I was sitting in the Superdome it looked like a good ole' fashion slugfest to me.
