What I've read in these threads are interesting and reasonable. My concern has not been whether Flynn is some kind of savior or hidden gem, but rather why he hasn't seen the field at all (except for how many plays this season?) It just seems strange to me that he has never got his named called. I mean, didn't Saban play Nall, Booty, and Davy early in the season when he first came? Of course, the results weren't too good. But back to Flynn. I just find it unusual he never hit the field considering the struggles our qbs have had. Maybe it is the snaps in practice thing. If JR and MR were confused, why bring more confusion into the battle? I don't know, but I do know, Saban has a good reason. There is nothing wishy washy about the man, and I respect that. We will just have to hope JR improves with two games remaining, and that Flynn gets a "real" opportunity to compete in the Spring and Fall.

Actually I heard there were a few reasons he hasn't gotten much time.

Sometime before the season started, he was sick. This caused him to miss valuable practice time, so the others got more. Then, after he got better, I heard he injured himself and that caused him to miss even more practice time. By the time he was back to 100%, it was too late to get him caught up as the season was well underway. I think we will see a considerable amount of playtime from him next season. Who knows, he could very possibly get the starting spot, depending on how much Russell improves (or doesn't)...

I'm not claiming this is 100% the whole story, for I don't know. But I've heard this a few times on post-game radio shows, for what that's worth.

I think basically its the shoulder injury that has kept him out. If he is better than JR next year, he will play, if not JR will be much improved after another entire offseason.

Somebody brought up a point to me that I'll go ahead and suggest. They said they didn't think Matt Flynn would be a good QB or become the starting QB this season because the black players wouldn't want to play for him. He's a freshman and *white - the older black players wouldn't respect him and wouldn't play as hard for him out on the field. I brought up Mauck, and he said that Mauck was older than everybody else out on the field and commanded respect for being in the system for a while and all. He said he thought the WR's and even the OL would prefer to be helping a black QB - and that they supported Randall over Russell because Randall always gave it his all and put alot of heart into it.

This is just this one guy I know's opinion, he's got no inside scoop or anything - just a thought of his.

    What do ya'll think?

I sincerely hope that our TEAM doesn't see black and/or white when they're out there. I hope they are brothers, period.
