A week later than I thought, but Utah is now No. 6 in the BCS

Yeah, that 41-21 'squeaker'... Get real.

Do they deserve National title consideration? Hell no.

Is it out of the realm of possibility that they are one of the 8 best teams in the country? No. The worst you could say about them is we don't know what they would do against the top teams. They haven't even come close to losing yet. Would it help there cause if they played a Miami as their tough test instead of Texas A&M? Sure. But Texas A&M has been much better than expected.

If they were squeaking by teams the way TCU did last year a few times, I wouldn't even consider them for a BCS game, but they are dominating. I say we have no way of knowing how they would perform in a major conference. I don't see what's so wrong with a non-BCS team making it into a BCS game once every 5 years or so.

I wish LSU could slip by teams the way Utah has. They crushed A&M who haven't lost since and have destroyed everyone in their path so far. Its not Utah's fault you don't know enough about them.

    That makes me a moron.

You and me both...I said before this season started that Utah would be great. Urban Meyer is one of the top coaches in America and when he gets his hands on a big program, possibly after this season, he will show you what kind of coach he is.

meyer with Leak and UF recruiting base is like NS here. Seminoles should be cringing. Not Miami, they have South Beach to attract any 18 year old with overblown hormones.

slipped was the wrong word.. A&M is very overrated at the moment anyway.. who have they played? the meat of their schedule is coming up.. they will probably have 4 or more loses by december.

I don't think Utah deserves a shot at the NC if they finish undefeated, but I do think they should get a shot at a BCS bowl if they go undefeated.

That said, I think Utah is one hell of a team but I don't think they will finish undefeated. Like most teams I think they will have an bad week against a lesser team with a grudge. Utah couldn't make it through any real BCS conference schedule, but they are part of Div1a and I believe if you can go undefeated (in a non BCS conference) you deserve a fair shot at a BCS bowl. Let's face it, if they create a playoff you better believe the non BCS confernces will expect a slot or two for their own unbeaten teams. If not, then they could pull out and create a new division. That's something the NCAA doesn't want, so allowing an undefeated Utah team into a BCS bowl is a fair compromise.

Something that gets lost in all of the debates is that it is very hard to go undefeated . . . even when you outclass your conference in talent and coaching. Eventually something bad happens and you can't control the game, Utah very well may find itself in that situation before the season is over. There are several weeks left, we still haven't had a real shakedown Sat to clear up the poll picture. You know, it wasn't that long ago fans were saying there was no way in hell WestVir would lose a game this season.

If everyone from 1 to 7 in the BCS win out, Utah would fall to #7 and Wisconsin would finish #6, based on Wisconsin closing the gap on the computer polls on Utah, and more than likely overtaking them in overall average. Wisconsin's remainder of schedule will boost their computer rankings while Utah's schedule will hurt them.
