It's my opinion for that to be true you're going to need to see a drop off with the lineman Bama signs over the next few years. One class certainly will not even the playing field. That's true especially when one team has suffered a drop off in those positions while the other had continued to recruit at a very high level on both sides.

As one example, when I'm looking at the 2018 class on the defensive line via 247 I'm seeing Cherry as LSU's "bell cow." And yet, I'm also seeing Bama with more than a handful of players ranked higher than Cherry. LSU did sign three of the top 50 while Bama signed five that were all ranked higher than Cherry. How can that be viewed in any other lens than "the gap is widening?"

FWIW, the OL isn't much different in '18's class. As I recall, Bama signed two in the top 50, LSU with their first around #55 or so.
