Check out his comments in Michael Hiestand's column in today's USA Today:

After comments by Atlanta Braves pitcher Paul Byrd about his alma mater LSU during TBS' baseball coverage Friday, TBS' Skip Caray didn't equivocate: "Paul Byrd — one of the athletes who went to that school who can spell LSU." ...

What upside is there to make a comment like that? What an idiot.

Caray gets sarcastic way too much and often even berates his fellow announcers on TBS or WSB750

But they gave Caray all kinds of grief when Troy State beat Missouri a few weeks back. He deserved every bit of it.

And now Chip Caray is going to Atlanta too.

The Cubs fans will blame everyone in the world in place of what doesn't get done on the field.

The Cubs fans actually blamed the Cards for playing soft against the Astros at the very same time that the Cubs went 1-2 against the Mets, 1-2 against the Reds and 1-2 against the Braves. Go figure..

I have playoff tickets for Wednesday and Thursday.

Game 1 Clemens vs Wright.... I'm psyched!

    Hey Chip,

Do you get the impression that Skip is a bit like his old man, and has a few too many over the course of a game? I mean, he may not slur like old Harry used to by the 7th inning and 15th Bud, but it would sure account for a lot of what he says.

I would think that they aren't allowed to drink while they are on the air. Maybe Harry could get away with it but, in this day and age, I can't see him being allowed to drink on air.

Drinking just MIGHT make his comments a little more plausible...

    Even worse....1-3 against the Reds

Cubs are a pathetic organization I have come to witness this past week.

It's spelled "Clemens"....show a little respect for possibly the best right-handed pitcher in the past 35 years.

Astros in 4......They will be using a 3 man rotation....Clemens seals the deal on Sunday in Houston.

I got my tickets for Saturday and Sunday.

The entire broadcast booth of the Atlanta Braves sucks to high heaven.

Biggest bunch of homers ever in the history of broadcasting.

Sutton is the worst of them all.

Just about any 'local' station covering a team tends to have a homer broadcast. If you were a Braves fan you would like them, but you're not so it bothers you.

The Astros guys on Fox Sports can be just as biased. It's just that TBS goes across the country and into markets where there are more opposing fans.

A year or two ago TBS tried to get to a more national approach for its broadcasts. They removed Skip Caray and Pete Van Wieren from the crew. This was met with great dislike and after a few months those two were back on air. TBS just had to figure out that if someone is watching a Braves game on TBS, chances are they are a Braves fan.
