Maybe now LSU fans will stop thinking things are going to be handed to us. Too many people here assumed LSU would just naturally win every game. It always upset me to go on other boards and see them saying we thought we were god's gift to football - because I know our fans were going over there acting like that. No matter how many times Nick says it, people can't grasp that last year was last year. Alot of pressure has been put on this team - national exposure, all-american expections, heisman hopefulls and etc. That is alot to cope with for 20 year old guys. Especially with every fan they meet telling them not to worry, we will win the next game with ease regardless of who we play. Also, Jamarcus Russell looked a whole lot better than MR - I don't care what the stats show. However, MR did seem to improve and I don't doubt that next week MR will still be the starting QB, wether i think he should be or not.
I don't see where u get that Randall seemed to improve. Randall took a major step back last night. A MAJOR one. And it should be his last. Makes no sense whatsoever to sacrifice the season just to see a "deserving" Marcus Randall start as a 5th year senior (paid his dues, you know that bullsh*t that everyone who wants Randall to be the starter keep spewing out). Russell needs to start next week. He needs to play the first 3 quarters. Randall needs to play the 4th to get his confidence back in case Russell gets injured. That's the recipe that should be followed. I think Russell will be ready to win us those big 3 road games by that time. Randall will NEVER be ready.
I'm willing to give MR one more chance against Arkansas St., if no major improvement by then - he needs to go & Flynn should probably start getting some snaps behind Russell.
I'm still trying to figure out how MR throws that pass w/ the nose of the football pointing down the whole time. Looks to me like it's defying the laws of physics.
Russell needs to start against ASU and get some considerable playing time...he needs as much real game experience as possible before Auburn!
Agreed. There is absolutely no point in starting Randall. Russell needs the PT with a lowly opponent so that his mistakes won't cost us as badly. He ony has one game to get adjusted before we face Auburn. I will be very baffled if Saban starts Randall.
We'll see them both next week, unless one is playing very well and the game is still close. It's the last game we have to make a decision for the rest of the season, because I don't think a two-headed QB is going to work throughout the SEC schedule. JR will win the job.
