1. Did it ever occur to alabama to stop cheating and all this could be avoided? 2. Show me some proof it was somebody from Tenn. that committed that crime, not just your accusation, but real proof. I don't think you have any proof so how can you say they were from Tenn? 3. You guys should all drop all of it. The lawsuits, accusations, etc. You are doing nothing but hurting the SEC- again - with all of this trashy feuding over who cheats more. I am freaking sick of alabama crying because they got caught cheating. again.
I understand where you are coming from, but please be aware that the majority of the Bama fans are not even concerned with this case. It does not involve the university....this is past coaches doing all of this...not the university. I can not see anything that we would gain from this case. You're right..we were found guilty(even though its not the fans like myself that went to the university or just enjoy watching the games each year that did the cheating....we just enjoy supporting our team), and goodness knows we are paying the price. We just want it forgotten, and we want everyone connected to the university to walk the straight and narrow as much as any one else in the SEC wants us to do so. I don't like probation, and I'm sure that no school that has ever been through it likes it either. It effects everyone when this happens to a school. Lets face it we have a great conference and most years the majority of our schools go to a bowl game, and this means more money and prestige to our conference. Well if someone is on probation...they can't go. With that said...I do have a few questions for everyone...Do you think that the NCAA is fair in their judgement with each school? Does it look like some schools get off (not even talking about Bama...I mean everyone) with just a slap on the wrist and others get slapped hard? Do you think that they NCAA should have some restrictions as to how they make their judgements? One last thing. Do you feel that because this case has been brought to everyone's attention, and people are looking at the NCAA a little more closely that they will be fairer to other schools being investigated? If so maybe this case can be for the good of other schools....it's not going to help Bama, and we know that. Believe me, I just want to say one more time....It's not us suing anyone and we just want to finish our punishment and get on with our "football life". If coach Folmar did what he did for the betterment of the conference and to keep everyone honest..............well what a blessing he must be to us all.
BamaMyHeart.....not being cute but you must not go on many bama or Auburn boards. The Fulmer/Tenn thing is all that's being talked about by bama fans and it's all in the media. I agree with you that it is now only hurting bama to keep this in the media. You guys must have hired whoever was doing Auburn's media relations over the past two years
obviously, the ncaa is not equal on any level. simply look at the SMU death penalty years ago then at bama with 3 recent violations and you have your answer. LSU basketball getting one of the worst penalties for a most petty violation while Michigan practically walks the same year with the Weber scandal. the ncaa is a joke and eventually the major conferences will unite and form superconferences leaving those board of idiots in the wake of reality.
Bamamy heart, as Trik said, the NCAA is not fair, they were way too light on you guys and Michigan. They were afraid of losing the revenue that these to mighty programs bring in. I repeat that Bama should not even be playing football right now, they shoud have gotten the death penalty. And Tirk, if they were to form a new super conference then the new group would have to govern and investigate just like the group now does and they would probably still be just as biased in favor of the schools like Michigan and Bama. They would probably hire the same staff from the NCAA to do the investigating and sanctioning.
the problem now is the ncaa is above the law and it shouldnt be. No way any new governing board would be as corrupt as the ncaa. its a joke.
Bama My heart, Very good post. We talk a lot about this on our board. We have some Great bama fans that come by and talk a little trash but thats all in fun. And your point about the University is so correct. the school is NOT behind this. A very Valid point. I loved it when it just Bama-UT 3rd weekend in October. It was a fun hatred about Rivalries and the way they should be.. This crap is old. lets let the kids play football and see how it plays out on the field.
Lemme Ask All Ya'll a Question How many of you have a hundred thousand dollars to give some High School Coach to steer 1 player to your school? I bet every one of you are just like me, working every day to make a living, raising a family and paying for doctor bills, dance lessons, new tires and health insurance.... My Support of the Tigers, the Tickets, My Family's weekends in the Fall going to Tiger Stadium, getting a hotel room, eating like Kings... this is a luxury for us and one that we sacrifice other things to enjoy. And this is with both myself and my Wife working, and with both of us with advanced degrees and professional careers. My point is that the kind of big shots doing the type of player buying that occurred with Albert Means and all the other ones where no one was caught have little to ZERO in common with most fans, and there is no reason to tolerate this BS at all. I am not pointing fingers here, but there is a culture of this at some SEC schools, and the way to end it is for their own fans to unambiguously denounce it and root it out. Waiting for someone at another school, who got outbid or whatever, to rat it out won't change anything. I am so thankful that LSU is not involved in this kind of crap, and I am acknowledging that We got LUCKY, L U C K Y, when we got Nick Saban, because I cannot imagine the wrath that he would bring down on someone that he believed was doing something that could screw up his team. And I BELIEVE that he has created a culture where it is KNOWN that Saban will not tolerate any crap whatsoever. Not claiming higher virtue for this conversation, I said WE got LUCKY! I too hope that this sad mess passes without further damaging the best conference in the country. I don't want my Tigers beating a crippled Crimson Tide. What good is that? Hopefully Alabama will recover from its sanctions soon and we can beat them when they would otherwise be National Champions but for LSU. Thats how it should be. But anyone who thinks this stuff is over or that we have heard the last of it is dreaming until the extended familys of the schools themselves say NO MORE to ADs who act like they own the programs and say NO MORE to the required "turned eyes". Like I said, do you have that kind of money to run pay some recruit or his coach? Are you willing to let someone pay it for you to get a player as long as they don't get caught? I got no sympathy for that. Gotta change the culture of this folks or it will happen again. and again.
Hey there, Higher Education Guru...What the hell are you thinking? Looking out for the state? How many studes, blue ribbon panels, and national education experts will have to come down here to shove through your skull and those who think like you that we have TOO MANY 4 year institutions? Grambling and Southern are selling degrees. Grambling can't even maintain their accredation status. The # of 4 year institutions reduces the value of education in the state on so many levels its ridiculous... 1.) It reduces the appropriations process to higher education into a scavenger hunt amongst fiefdoms and legislative powerbases. I've seen it in action, and I've seen the ridiculous results... 2.) It reduces the overall value because when there's less money to go around because of a glut of regional 4 year institutions that blight the map of this state who overlap and achieve overlapping functions, the value of the degrees earned at each school is lessened. 3.) If you reduce the # of 4 year institutions, the $ gets diluted less and less. This means more money for the schools that are there. More money for the infrastructure. More money for IT investments. More money for curriculum. More money to refine the canon. More money for professor pay raises (Which our GUVNUH has GUTTED form our college's budgets, LSU most glaringly), money for professorial retainment. More money for research. More money for all of those things increases the value of the degrees bestowed upon students educated at those institutions. 4.) We have a flagship Land & Sea Grant University already in this state. It's called LSU. We have a Land & Sea Grant U that's already more poorly funded than any other in the NATION...Why do we need to elevate another that's traditionally been a ridiculously reputationed party school known for nothing more than Coach Blanco and partying? We don't need it because according to our own governor, we don't have the $ to fund the SINGLE ONE we were blessed with. Whether you want to admit it or not, we need out of state students, but what we need more than that are students we HAVE in state to STAY in state. That's not accomplished by renaming schools. It's accomplished by making our higher education system more advantageous and attractive to them. You don't do that cosmetically. You don't do it by elevating a podunk school to a status that it was never intended nor is equipped to handle. We need to focus on retaining students in our home state before worrying about of out of state students. Kind of like worrying about phasing out the onerous business taxes this state's small businesses shuffle along shouldering the burden of before we go off half cocked after every tom dick and harry out of state company... Retention of your talent is key. Focus your endeavors. Our resources and our financial capital are precious few in this state. We have changes that need to be made. They are not elevation of 4 year schools other than LSU. They are reducing the # of 4 year institutions in this state, refocusing many that are not accomplishing their goals and refashioning them into 2 year, vocationally angled job trainers. Whether you agree with it or not, the blueprint's been around for awhile. You change the podunks to regionally focused 2 year institutions that are geared towards a specific vocation or field of specialization (Make ULL a factory for Oil Process Technicians to supply the state's petrochemical industry, while making Nicholls State an Agri-business focused school, and the like). Not entirely geared towards one field of study, but give them strict focuses to ensure that what they do have to offer and the resources allocated to them are narrowed to the point where they can give you an Associate's degree in Sociology still, but can give you a world class Oil Process Technician's education, for example... You not only increase the validity and value of their educational aims, but you increase capital to be spent where it needs to be, which is on LSU. LSU is the shining city on Louisiana's proverbial hill. Elevating the status of still more mindless and wasteful 4 year institutions by giving them cosmetic name changes in an attempt to attract out of state students is ridiculous when you stop to take a look at how many IN STATE STUDENTS we're losing overall... Naming ULL & ULM ain't gonna help the state...Getting rid of Grambling, reducing the scope of places like ULL, ULM, Nicholls, etc...will...Because you increase the funding to REAL places of higher education such as UNO, SLU, and LSU...
Thanks, that means a lot coming from a Vol fan. I want to beat Tenn. on the field, but I do not want to beat up on your fans or your coach. The first time Tenn. came to Tuscaloosa a few years ago(instead of Legion Field) a Vol fan was quoted as saying he would never come back, because he was treated badly by a Bama fan. I don't like that. I want other schools fans to come to Tuscaloosa and report back that it was a great place to play...they were treated great and even though they lost (I can't wait to be able to say that again)it was a fun trip and they want to come back. I'm glad the game is not in Tuscaloosa this year..I know there will be alot of talk around the game, and people discussing more security is needed for the safety of everyone. That is a shame. This hurts both schools...some loyal fans may stay away from the game because they want to get caught in the middle of something, and the ones that come(on both sides) may be the ones that want to look for a fight. Some fans think that if they start a fight they are supporting their team...believe me that does not make the rest of us proud. I love my school and I want it to one day be what it used to be before people that have nothing to do with the school started making it their personal playing field. What did they gain from this...it was not a love of the school and the football team...how much money were they able to put in their pockets from Alabama winning? I love the game and I want to enjoy it every week, and I love that most of the Sec games are on TV. I hatted it when Auburn was on probation(honestly not because it happened to them...can't lie about that) because of how it effected me....I could not watch them on tv and for the first time in a very long time the iron bowl was not on tv. We did put up the big screen in Tuscaloosa and we filled the stadium to watch the game, but no one on the field...........lets talk about weird. I want to beat other teams on the field, and I want the only advantage that we have to be the way our guys are playing that day....what is a victory if someone says "they should win..they have the best players money can buy".
