The knock on Shepard was that he couldn't throw the ball but in the videos of his high school games he looked like an adequate passer.
IDK if I agree with your post or not, at least Jarvis and Odell had Mett at QB and had 1 or 2 good years. Every time I think of Russell Shepard, what a shame. I would have liked to see what he could have done at the college level for South Carolina with the Ole Ball Coach! Edit: Not talking of having Shepard at QB position btw.
