Can Shaw recruit? His 2012 class finished 5th on rivals with 22 recruits. Last year only 12 recruits, ouch. They must honor those commitments. Anyway finished in the 60s on rivals. Short of Shaw leaving, I think Stanford will be a player for a time. Washington, I don't get. Too much talent. Starting to believe Sarkisian is not the man. Can't imagine the Huskies putting up with one more average season. The team is a sleeping giant and when they figure out who can coach, that will give the Pac north some serious clout.

I don't know Stanford's roster details, right now they seem loaded. The SEC doesn't honor it's commitments?

If Washington has a bad year you'll hear a lot of grumbling from Seattle. Most think UW is poised for success. They have a lot of the pieces, a senior QB, and a better defense. And, this year they play the Ducks in their newly rebuilt stadium,.. Huskie fans are excited, because they think they can win.



This is old Huskie Stadium, totally refurbished the new stadium has about the same capacity, 70k+, the track around the field was removed.

Uh huh, just how far do you have to go back in history to find the Ducks selecting 12 recruits? I'm guessing pre-Kelly? I did find Vandy at 14 recruits. SEC indeed. Maybe wishful thinking on Washington though. All fans are excited right now. Still a few around who remember the Don James glory years. I do.

It's interesting because we so often see headlines about how SEC coaches are fired so quickly for not winning—which is true in a sense. But, and again this is off the top of my head so I imagine I'll make a mistake here.

You're right about Washington, they should be a powerhouse, UW has plenty going for it, and Seattle's a very cool city. .Mt. Ranier is awesome, when you can see it.

I knew Sarkisian was stinking up the place, but looking at his record, I can't figure out why he is still there? He started out at 5-7, his first year and has just completed his 3rd straight 7-6 season. But still enjoying decent, top 25 recruiting. I did see the LSU game, but it looked like they didn't enjoy competing in a hostile environment. Plus they have no defense. Going sideways in the SEC, at a program of past success, will get you unemployed. Heck, going 8-4, too many times, will accomplish that in this league.

This is going to be Sark's best team at Washington, if he screws it up this year,.. dawg fans are going to be mad. I think the Huskies will go 8-4, if they win a bowl game 9-4,.. that'd be their best year in quite a while. Did I mention, Oregon's beat em the last 9 years.

I was following the thread discussing the SEC schedule, looks to me like you've got a mess on your hands. For now, the pac's schedule isn't setup too bad.

USC and UCLA have always gotten their way in the PAC. When the conference expanded and was realigned, USC and UCLA demanded larger shares of the TV money.

Other PAC universities protected their interests too.

The 4 Northwest schools refused to allow Utah and Colorado into the pac-north because they didn't want to be split away from the California schools and their rich recruiting grounds.

Cal and Stanford wanted to be in the pac-south,.. an agreement was made.

usc/ucla got a guaranteed tv revenue amount, (made moot by our recent contract).

cal/furd are guaranteed to play ucla/usc every year.

NW-4 are guaranteed to play either usc or ucla in Los Angeles every year.

Always play other teams within division. Revolve playing other division's teams. Games are scheduled in home/away cycles.

The deal was forced by the NW-4, Cal and furd howled about it but were outvoted.

I like our setup ok,.. cal/furd demanded that extra Southern California exposure, so they will play usc and ucla every year,.. I think that makes it harder for them to win the North.

Competitive balance would pretty much demand Stanford and Cal head north. Are you saying the Pac 12 doesn't have equal revenue sharing? So Stanford and Cal want to play USC and UCLA but the Ducks, not so much. I think a lot of SEC teams are taking the same approach as Oregon. This league has so many competitive teams that SOS, home/away and bye weeks are really a big deal, if you make it to Atlanta.

So how's the 2013-14 version of Oregon Cheerleading Squad shaping up?
