WVU Fans My wife and I went and we were very cautious to stay around other LSU fans. 99% of the WVU fans were great, but we did have some issues go into the stadium. WVU needs to band beer sales in the stadium. I know that it would not make much of a difference in some behavior, but it would help. I've been to several away games and this by far was the most nervous that I have been at a game.
Away games are a tricky proposition these days as it seems the population of ill-raised trashy people has quadrupled in the last 10 years or so. I nearly got jumped in Columbia in 03 for talking back to a gang of trailer park gamecock fans who probably never saw the inside of a highschool classroom, let alone a college one. I talked my way out of it with the "Hey we're SEC family" line. I catered to their need for acceptance. Anyway, the best thing to do is take what they dish out as best you can and be good natured. It's hard but it's the best way to avoid a 10 on 1 altercation. I never had anyone throw a rock at my pregnant wife though. I imagine all bets are off at that point. People are sick.
Another story link to this I think. I was afraid something like this would happen up there. I hope this goes viral on the the sports boards every where in this country. Pittsburgh man, others attacked in traffic after weekend game in Morgantown - News - Charleston Daily Mail - West Virginia News and Sports -
We're not crazy enough to do that. Those idiots should know piss bags are much safter and definitely the way to go. Rocks can really hurt someone.
Florida and Texas A&M have been the most nervous I have ever been. Ole Miss I have always had a positive experience. Bama as well. Auburn never much problem. A&M I think was just a few bad fans most were nice. and I will never go back to Florida again. that was a horrible experience, and they kicked the crap out of LSU on the field and they still wanted to beat us all up.
why hasnt this hit ESPN yet. As soon as it does then it becomes a story. Right now its only Louisiana
Well it was *mentioned* in the very last paragraph of this article: Headlinin’: NCAA traces Will Lyles’ web back to Kiffin-era Tennessee - Dr. Saturday - NCAAF Blog - Yahoo! Sports While it's *not* ESPN it *is* another well frequented blog. Perhaps that will get ESPN to 'notice'
They act like it was a local crime and victim. The acronym LSU is never mentioned. How many searches will turn up this article. The only mention is buried deep in the story. How about four passengers wearing purple and gold.
