One thing in your post seems crazy to me, "They refuse to admit they were beaten by a team they see as inferior. Their prejudice of south Louisiana won't allow them to consider that a bunch of redneck boys from the deep south can beat them straight up"..... Speaking for myself, that thought never crossed my mind, nor have I heard anyone I know, say anything like that. That's some pretty phucked up sh!t there. I've watched 3 Oregon games since Jerryworld, and yesterday I watched the first half of the LSU game. I see things a little differently now. Oregon's defense is not as advertised, before the season the Duck's D was expected to be a major strength. It's not, especially against the run. It was expected that our young receivers would need to step up and produce. DeAnthony Thomas has,.. still waiting on the others. The team is much younger than I anticipated. Oregon has a very good punter, we have nothing like your weapon. Oregon has no one that compares to Tyrann Mathieu. When I saw him strip the ball, and carry it in for the TD,.. I saw the light, I get it now, it wasn't bad luck. Mathieu makes all American plays,.. the type of plays that win games. Oregon lost to a better team. I was raised by a hay farmer, the finest man I've ever known,.. my whole life, I've been stripping grass to taste the sweet. Miles makes good sense to me.
Yes, Duckfan, I'm with you. And I appreciate your sincerity. You are a mature observer not blinded by parochial dogma. You have the ability to objectively weigh and fairly assess evidence presented. These are, alas, not common virtues among many college football "fans". True fans love deeply but not blindly. Nor do they see the game as an excuse to allow the means of refreshment to turn to intemperance or excess. I respect the traditions of all schools as I hope they will respect ours. But I'll never UNDERSTAND couch burning or any other destructive manner of celebrating a victory or soothing the pangs of defeat. Good luck to you and the Ducks - get out there and win the conference!
LSU isn't lucky at all. We just showed some hospitality last night and gave WVU a little lagniappe in the latter part of the 2nd half in terms of what had happened in the first half. Enjoy some lagniappe, couillon!
Yeah, but not everyone in Oregon is like duckfan. Most people didn't grow up on a hay farm. A lot of these people are nuts who live in Eugene and Portland. There is a lot of stereotyping, even if he doesn't want to admit it. I know many people from SELA and other parts of the south who have lived all over the PNW, and many of these people don't really like it. That's not to say that all feel this way. LSU has a Portland alumni group. A good number of these folks like Oregon. So, like a lot of other things, it depends on who you talk to. I had some dude tell me that he was actually tired of the disrespect coming from the South and the SEC. I was like, "HUH?". He then said we won the last 5 titles and that told me that he was speaking from an inferiority-complex point of view. I don't think anyone here has disrespected the Pac-10 and we really don't care about it, EXCPET when someone starts running their mouth - usually USC fan, but prior to this Oregon game, Oregon fan had taken that position.
