I am wondering how much of an impact there will be with the return of RS?

The TD pass was beautiful. Looks like Lee can throw a nice fade.

His performance was pretty good, but what concerns me is that LSU only picked up one first down through the air out of 6 tries. They still struggled when the defense was expecting a pass. That could spell trouble if the ground game is not working.

I wonder if Chris Faulk's injury was not a factor; anybody heard how serious his ankle injury is?

This is a negative trend, i.e., stopping routes short of the 1st down marker.

Most of that seems to be by design. LSU is playing it very safe in the passing game. The incompletion to Peterson to end the first drive was a perfect example. I'd much rather see them throw into the endzone on third and goal.

Most of Lee's completions were to wide open receivers on plays that were set up by the ground game.

Do you think this is a result of receivers not running to the first down before making his break, the lack of patience by lee in not allowing his receivers to reach the first down marker before the ball is thrown, or play calling that relies on getting the ball out quickly and counting on receivers to make plays?

often its the underneath routes that are the only ones open.

instead of throwing a pick hes getting positive yardage.

hes taking what they give him.

cliche' but thats what hes supposed to do.

Guys aren't setting up just short of the sticks. For the most part, throws are going underneath and staying out of danger. LSU would rather punt the ball away than risk a turnover.

With a QB that is only making his 3rd start in 3 seasons after having a bad run his first round at starting. . . I kind of understand what they're doing.

The only plays I had a problem with were RR's dropping the ball trying to make more of a play than just taking the 1st down, and Lee being very hot but them coming out and doing 4 straight runs.

Miles had a 2 possession point lead on Moo U late in the game, I don't like that he did nothing but run the ball even on 3rd and 7, but that's what you get with Miles and it works far more than it fails.

Yep .... that puzzled me as well. Let the kids play!!! I don't think ints are going to be an issue this year. Try the pass ... if its inc. .. then punt. I think the probability of a getting the first on a third and long is way higher with a pass than it is with a run.
