Everyone wants a championship and it may take both QB's to get us there. The good thing about this whole situation is the attitude of the starting qb who said he welcomes Mett on the field and is cheering for his success. I think this relationship can only be good for our offense. I think Lee realizes if he is not getting it done, then he is OK with Mett coming in to help. It is very refreshing to see these kids have such an unselfish and team first attitude. :thumb:

I think a few people on this forum could learn from this.

... and like I said ... If Mett had to put up with what Lee has put up with, being booed, criticized, and demoralized, I doubt seriously that he'd be so hot in the psychological realm either.

Mett is a fresh slate. He is going to be better than Lee, there is no argument about it .... provided that he is brought into the system appropriately .. unlike Lee, who was thrown in the ring before he was mature enough to run a complex offense against the complex and talented defenses of the SEC.

And, I'll respectfully disagree with you .... mechanics is all good and fine, but "aim" and reading the defense is mental, not mechanical .. so you can look as pretty as you please throwing the ball .... if the "mental" part of the game is not sound, you will throw a bunch of ints and missed passes.

IMO .. .Lee is doing good so far. I see no reason to start tapping on the mistakes of the past reminding him of what happened, thus raising his anxiety level and destroying his confidence ... in "hopes" that he fails so Mett can step up.

I mean .. even the talking heads on TV are treating him better than you are.

But Mett hasn't. And that's my point. He's not ruined psychologically and all the more reason that in crunch time I think he would excel.

I will never hope Lee fails. I hope to God we go 13-1 or 14-0 and win the national title with Lee at the helm. Realistically, and we are dealing with the real world and not some fairy tale ending here, Lee will not lead us to the promised land and we will need Mett to step up and fill in that role.

I see no evidence that Lee is "ruined psychologically". None at all. He has thrown 100 passes without an interception.

You are just dumping on Lee because you can't let go of 2008.

    Incorrect.

IMO, the thread is not about minimizing ZMs play, but addressing the irrational euphoria that has possessed some people ... and their tendency to discredit everyting else that exists.

The OP doesn't criticize Mett in the least. It was based on two sets of observation, spring game and NW. And, putting it in context, aside from how good he may actually be, the coupling of it to dissing Lee is likely what brings up the question.

Like I said .... Lee ... 90% completion rate for 130 or so yrds, Mett 72% completion rate for 110 or so yards.. I don't see any reason to crow about how much better he is than Lee .... yet.

qb play is not near as important in college. if you had this argument about tee martin and peyton manning you would have said peyton would win 3 ncs and tee martin would never sniff the field.

peyton nor eli won anything of importance.

    tee martin has a NC.

Also, Lee has proven to be able to come from behind in big spots. on more than one occasion. As good as mett looks, hes not proven he can handle such situations. tony romo looks good on paper. not so great when needed to make a play.

mett may be great but its too early. maybe if lee collapses we'll find out. lets hope not.

It's like the old saying: The back up QB is always the most popular QB on the team.
