Agreed, I'd rather just stay in the top 5. You get everyone's best effort when you're #1.

Until Petrino proves he can put a defense on the field to protect all those points his offense puts up then no one is going to take them seriously. We could very well lose to them but I like our chances of our defense being better than their offense. I assume you mean us losing to Ole Miss since we play Miss St after we play y'all. After watching Ole Sis play saturday I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't cross midfield against our defense. Their offense is pitiful. They have no qb and both their rb's left the game with injury. It appeared they have OL issues as well.

Now back to our lovefest. ;)

And I'm not sold on Miss St either. I was born and raised in MS until moving to Louisiana. I grew up around the fans and the program and it never fails. State performs better without expectations and it seems when they are no longer viewed as the "underdog" and are expected to win you can all but count on them crappin' their pants. So until they prove otherwise I don't expect them to retain or move much higher than their current #16 ranking.

"It's kinda like a box of chocolates .. you never know what your going to get".

I don't see the Hogs having D and I don't see MSU having enough O to score on us !

    My early take

    LSU - 24
    MSU- 13

    LSU - 34
    Hogs- 24

    LSU - ?
    Bama-?

dont know about Bama yet - watching the Penn St game

This. Until MSU actually figures out a way to beat us, they don't concern me. They've beaten us once in the last 19 years, and only 3 times in the 90s. The 90s! Darkest of days for LSU football. 23-3 against MSU since 1985.

yep, hindsight is 20/20 but we should have definitely played USC

We should have trashed OU but an early 4th quarter interception by Mauck put OU back in the game. He had someone open inside the 10 yard line on that play, had he seen him, LSU trounces OU on the scoreboard.

All I have to say is ..... this is not the same coach, same players, or same team at MSU that has played us for the last 19 years!

Like you said ... "the 90s" .. the darkest days of LSU football history. Ya think they might have the same story??? ... as in the darkest couple of decades in their football history??

I'm not so much concerned about MSU beating US .... I was talking about MSU beating Bama. Now AR ...on the otherhand ... they could very well be a sleeper .. because too many people like you think they suck. I mean hey .. they only gave up 7 points in the last game ... against a nobody, just like Bama .. the hailed best Defense in the Universe gave up 7 against a nobody.

You can bet, Les Miles is not thinking like you are.

I agree, Petrino's system of "All Offense" will never work in the SEC the way he thinks it will. Arkansas is a long shot at winning the SEC and personally I think they are over-rated. They need every ball to bounce their way to win games. Take them out of their element, say in a rain game, Arkansas is DEAD IN THE WATER! – They have some great athletes, but canT dominate LSU, Bama, UF, SC, and maybe ebven State for 4 solid quarters of football.

They hung 50 on Missouri State - WOW How impressive!

Alabama will have to issues with Arkansas, not this year
