Umm, no. He'd have to return kicks, punts, and play some offense. He ain't Charles Woodson. I say leave him be and let him flourish naturally.

That's a good point because everything is so MEDIA DRIVEN these days. And the QB's seem to get all the love these days.

I believe if LSU continues to have a strong season this year and T-Rex is a consistent highlight reel like he has been then he will also get alot of chatter and attention on the tube.

Given next years lighter schedule and the fact that he will be "bigger, stronger, and faster" I think he will have a BETTER shot to do it that pp7.

LSU needs to start campaigning for this kid NOW.

If all goes well I believe that T-Rex will be in NYC next year.

Exactly. Even with all of the return yardage, INT's, TD's, Patrick Peterson wasn't even in the discussion when the time came. Very very difficult for any defensive player to even be considered a finalist.

I know I may be beating a dead horse/thread here, but I found this interesting in today's Advocate:

    "Mathieu moves up

Mathieu again demonstrated his knack for big plays when he covered an LSU punt, forced a fumble, recovered the football and ran 3 yards for a touchdown. As a freshman last season, Mathieu forced five fumbles, recovered three fumbles, made two interceptions and had 4.5 sacks.

“The ball just seems to pop right into my hands from time to time,” Mathieu said.

Just 13 games into his Tigers career, Mathieu has tied Kelvin Sheppard (2007-10) and Clarence LeBlanc (1966-99) for second place in forced fumbles in a career (six). The leader is Ali Highsmith (2004-07) with seven."

Yeah, we have those guys too.

But he's essentially right in that the Heisman race is one of momentum. Somewhere around the 1st of November, the finalist list is pretty much set based on the highlight reels of the contenders. Getting shut down in the first game, especially a much anticipated one, really puts James behind the curve. Now, he will have to put up unbelievable yards against the rest of your Sept & Oct opponents to gain the same amount of attention he would have gotten if he had run for 150 in a win against us.

I firmly believe that Cam Newton won the Heisman in the October Arkansas & LSU games last year, especially with his big run against us. Everybody else would be playing catch-up the rest of the year. James just missed his chance to have a game like that and it really hurts him.

Then again, I think championships are more important that Heismans anyway, and the PAC12 championship is still yours to take. Good luck on the rest of the season.
