Wasn't there a WR from Southlake Carroll in Texas in the recent past??? I get confused as they scatter all over the country, I want to say Cantu was his last name. Thanks and good luck.
The bama fan isn't a lsu homer. He, or coarse, is an sec homer. Bama and lsu face off in an epic battle every year. If tusk had doubts in lsu's ability to win I would be worried. He's not looking through purple and gold glasses. His faith in our tigers makes me feel better.
He's real good, but has trouble getting onto the field because of injuries. Blake Cantu - GoDucks.com - The University of Oregon Official Athletics Web Site
I think this is pretty true. The real question for our defense is not whether or not we can overpower their o-line, it's if we're disciplined enough to stay on assignment and defend the triple option well. You can have 3 d-lineman bust into the backfield but they still have to find the ball. Our Offensive line should be able to control the line of scrimmage. I think if we have success with the run early, we will be in good shape on offense. If they are able to stuff the run, we won't be able to put Lee in good opportunities to throw the ball and we know what that leads to.
Chemistry is an element of any blocking scheme. I don't know of any blocking scheme that eliminates the element of chemistry and the OL's ability to work as a cohesive unit. There's no way around it, sorry. And any hesitation whether its created from inexperience or physical inferiority will be exposed and potentially detrimental against a dominant DL. And LSU is expected to have one of the best DL's in the country.
If you are referring to mine, skepticism sets in a little when high powered offenses put so much faith in the scheme over personnel. On these videos you are missing 3 linemen off a offense that got dominated by a SEC defense. Your beat writer recently said, "Auburn's defensive front seven clobbered them like Hurricane Irene hitting the Jersey shore." If there is one consensus the SEC has heard from other conferences is that our interior linemen, with their size and speed create mismatches that many believe is the reason they are sending these NC trophies south. Oregon came out of that contest believing it was mental break downs and haven't been shy about saying it. You seem to feel getting held to 2.3 yards per carry was an aberration. LSU is a big, fast, physical SEC defensive front seven. My advice, I would brace for a few more "mental breakdowns" come Saturday.
I hope you don’t expect to see similar play between LSU's defense and what you saw from USC, UCLA, Stanford, and Washington. I am actually kind of flabbergasted(if that’s a word) that you would even put LSU's defense in the same sentence with those. You will see A LOT of what you saw in Auburn's defense, BUT FASTER & STRONGER! If indeed you are banking on the roll out, DT better have a rocket up his ass, because our D-Line & Backers love a QB with no protection around him
What about a floppin center that has never taken a snap in a college game having to face THE LSU DEFENSE! This kid better be floppin great! Our defense will stomp his fresh asz in the ground. Look for fumbles on the snap !
I agree. My point is, the Ducks offensive philosophy is not dependent on whether a single player, (weak link), can repeatedly stop someone from bull-rushing the QB, or RB. More so, Oregon schemes towards having the defense out of position, while avoiding the areas covered by the opponents best players. One of Chip Kelly's mantra's is; speed and execution are more critical than bulk. Up to a point, speed and execution are also more critical than technical blocking techniques. Knowledge of the play is critical, the speed to execute is critical. Experience,.. very important, but maybe not quite as important as most other styles of offense might demand. I must add, Oregon has a lot of experience on the O line, just not starting experience. Having said that,... you're right, chemistry is the magic that makes the offensive line work, and that makes the offense work. You don't win without it. I think the Ducks will find some magic.
