I know you guys think the tempo trick is going to work but it did not work against OSU in the Rose bowl and it did not work against Auburn. It will not work against the Chief and LSU D. That is all they are working on right now and we will have the best base D you guys have seen.

Auburn was a average SEC D with one great player.

You're right, the hyper tempo is a trick, but linked with extra good athletes, it's been mostly effective, and is very dynamic and explosive. It has some drawbacks though, our top is pathetic, and this makes it harder on our D.

This is the ultimate argument. As a rule, the spread offense always seems to come with the spread defense. I guess it's true, you play like you practice.

Taking advantage of a tired defense in the fourth qtr is LSU's bread and butter. We win lots of close games in the last few minutes. We pound and pound and pound that arse until those three yard runs turn into seven yard runs late in the game. If your defense gets tired easy because they have been on the field too long aginst PAC 12 teams they will be flopin exhausted by the time Ware and the boys get through with them.

Oddly, TOP actually means little as Oregon is always near the bottom of TOP for the whole season. Its because they tend to score fast. Its also why Oregon did not get enough credit for their Defense last year. Oregon's Defense, due to the Offense scoring so fast, played significantly more downs / TOP than most other CFB teams, yet they still ranked 14 (I believe).

I am a Duck Alumni. I was at the NCG last year. I was at most home games last year, too, and of course never missed viewing any games. I do not believe Oregon will be as good as last year and its because of Defense and not Offense.

Oregon will be able to put up points on most teams this year. I keep hearing LSU has a great Defense this year, so I imagine Oregon will not score a lot of points on them. However, what will lose Oregon games this year is their inability to stop other teams. I just feel like Oregon lost a lot of the D side of the ball from last year; and, I believe the D from Oregon's team from last year did not get nearly the credit they should have for their successful season.

I personally feel the winner of the game between LSU and Oregon will be the team that plays the best considering its Game 1, and considering both teams seem to be young. I would much prefer if these two matched up later in the season once both teams had some games under their belt. Its not likely either team will be the same as the season progresses.

Being that it is game 1 of the season, there will likely be unforced errors, as well as continuity and rhythm issues that will cost either or both teams points.

    Good luck to your boys.
