True and false. Republicans have been trying to reform SS for years and have unfortunately failed. Social Security reform is nothing Republicans need to apologize for; they should be proud of their efforts. The purpose of SS reform is to make people more secure; not a government program - something liberals tend to be confused about. Those who have been paying into SS for years must be protected and will be protected. But for those entering the work force, they need to be given a better path to security.

The best laid plans of 20-somethings don't always work out. Hear me now and believe me later.

But it's not about you. The 6.2% you pay to SS insures the nation that you and all others don't be come a public burden.

Something better than SS which is a boondoggle.

Old people who have to make it on SS alone are already a public burden. They end up in nursing homes paid for by medicaid. So if that is your argument I would say SS is completely ineffective.

    Invalid response. Does not compute.

I guess I'll just have to prove you and all the others like you wrong. Entitlements are not the answer. Effort in one's job and fiscal responsiblity is the only way to truely succeed in life. If a person follows those ideals, then that person will never have to depend on someone else for financial support.

Ahh, I was once a blind idealist, too. In time, the naivity will wear off and you'll understand what I'm talking about.
