I'm praying they don't close of fishing in lake barre area until at least after this weekend.

Pretty much a straight line from Cocodrie, heading west to Golden Meadow is closed now (only about 2-3 mile south of my favorite spots).
don't know how/if they're enforcing it, or when they may move that line North.

Lake and Bayou Barre are some of my favorite places to fish. Do you know if Lake Robinson and Lake Boudreaux are open?

    Another interesting angle:

BP asks if blowout devices have been modified | Energy | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle

BP is pointing the finger at Transwhatever...Transwhatever is pointing the finger at Halliburton and Halliburton is pointing the finger back at BP

Did we wake up in a Three Stooges skit??????

Unreal...and why hasnt one of these other oil companies that have stellar records when it comes to drilling like SHELL stepped up to offer assistance in capping this well they have just as much to lose as any other company.

I'm not sure but thought this was like THE deepest and not much "to go on" in terms of experience with such depth, etc.

Anyone have any idea what condition the BOP is in presently? Wonder if they will be able to salvage any of it and have it analyzed.

The morning paper said that W&F was sending more agents into the closed areas to enforce it. It may be more talk than gray Boston Whalers on the water.

I know they have been REALLY enforcing the closed areas on the east side of the river so much so as making anyone caught fishing in the areas throw back everything in their boat. I dont see why they would enforce it the same way on the west side.

True but a few more genius in the room working on the problem wouldnt hurt and Shell is usually the company on the forefront when it comes to trying and doing things never done before.

This always happens when something goes wrong and it will eventually get sorted out. Accidents/mistakes/failures happen and the always will. Especially when dealing with forces of mother nature.

The problem that I have here is that there was no contingency plan designed in case of disaster. You always have to look at the worst case scenarios and have a "what-if" plan in place if all the safeties fail.

When it was proposed to drill at those depths, the question needed to be asked, "how will you fix a potential failure at the base if you lose complete control of the well?" If there was no good solution to that scenario then they should never have been drilling that deep in the first place.
