I think with everyone blaming the LSU quarterbacks for the tiger's problems, its important to note that the wideouts, despite appearances, are not playing good ball. They run sloppy routes.. as young players do... they (especially davis) catch with their bodies more than with their hands.. as young players do... they dont block that well.. comes with experience.. and they really dont get alot of yards after the catch...
Sloppy routes mean that the recievers are often times out of position.. a QB doesnt always throw to a reciever.. he throws to a spot.. and when the reciever doesnt go to the spot he is supposed to go to, bad things happen.. also, if you dont make good cuts, its pretty damn hard to get seperation from the DBs.. Where is a QB supposed to throw the ball when no one is open? Eventually, frustration sets in and the QB starts to force the ball.. thats when picks happen..
Ive seen quite a few dropped balls because the recievers catch with their bodies.. or when they do use their hands, they arent extended away from their bodies.. so if they get bumped or hit, the drop the ball.
Its hard to break a run or cut back with the safeties and corners are coming on the edge and making the tackle.. they were spoiled last year with veterans like clayton and henderson blocking for them.

These guys definately have talent and potential, but they arent quite there yet..
So all of the blame cannot go on the QBs, RBs, and O-line..
Alot of it should be placed on the offensive coaches for not putting randall in an offense that he is comfortable running.. if they are smart they will run the offense they used to dominate Florida..

Yeah from a normal spectator's viewpoint, it's hard to see those things you are talking about. All you see is a bad pass from Randall/Russell. Good post.

As I said earlier...Drops alone I counted 4...That'd have Randall at an 80% completion percentage...up from the stellar 65%...

I think the main thing is playcalling and offensive line protection. You absolutely MUST protect for either Russell or Randall. None are experienced enough to excel in the face of a heavy rush-yet.

You MUST stretch the field vertically so that the running game can open up, so you don't have to lean on the passing game.

Just my $0.02...but this may be Jimbo's last year in TigerTown...

Green is much better as the two-receiver. He's not at home in the one slot. :thumb:

Well if the implication is that Jimbo will be fired, you're wrong about that.

Maybe you should clarify what you mean.

Excellent point from a person not directly connected to LSU.

Jimbo's not going anywhere unless he leaves for a head coach position. It's inexperience, plain and simple. I've also noticed Bowe catching with his body alot and has had a few dropped balls because of it. Early Doucet has been the most impressive to me when it comes to getting yards after the catch. This guy is going to be amazing. Agreed that the blocks and routes aren't as sharp as they should be, but we these young guys can't catch every ball that hits their hands - alot of the passes are thrown behind them and not in the right place.

Green is a slot reciever.. he is gets pushed around playing the outside.. he is best used like he was last year.. sneaking around from the slot.. and in situational plays like screens and reverses.

Since I have never played a down of organized football please excuse my ignorance but how can anyone who doesn't know what routes the receivers are suppose to run know that they ran the wrong or sloppy route or that perhaps the QB did not throw the ball to the right spot. While you are at it please explain why we don't throw deep passes very often. It would seem to me with the speed we have at WR we would be going downfield more. It seems all we did last night was throw out patterns and screen passes. My opinion is we are in deep trouble right now at QB. Marcus can be brillant at times and woeful at others. JR (from what I have read posted here) played by the seat of his pants in high school and appears to be trying to do the same now and Saban isn't happy about it. Matt Mauck was not a great QB, he was an adequate QB with great leadership qualities who didn't make many mistakes and with him we won a NC. The season is half over and our offense does not appear to me to have improved much if at all. :( :geaux:
