1. In this situation, it won't matter much. Bama already has enough motivation: revenge. So what Blackwell said will not have much effect. Both teams will be fired up just because its the NC. No extra motivation needed on either side. LSU's motivation is keeping their #1 ranking and finishing off the greatest season in the history of the school with a NC. If that is not enough motivation for a team, then nothing that is said will matter.:geauxtige

  2. this was already covered. the little things matter. the smart coaches tell their team to avoid this for a reason. will has been re-educated on the matter.
  3. Did you read my post? Coaches do use this for motivation. It only matters when the bullets aren't flying during the week and the doldrums of practice or weight lifting or getting their attention bringing it up in a team meeting if the guys aren't as attentive as desired that day..

However, if you think these things matter during the game then I can't disagree more.

I do believe you can cultivate a mentality through these types of things in fostering the "us against the world" mentality, however that again is done outside the lines of the actual game itself which was my entire point.

I did not say these things aren't useful or that they are not used.

Their value in deciding the game is simply overblown.

  4. I find it amusing that LSU fans are galled by Bama players thinking they're better than LSU...

Can you imagine what LSU players would be thinking if the roles were reversed ?

Can you imagine ANY LSU player thinking "Oh well, I guess they're just better than us."?
  5. Yea...just look at Atlanta playing the Saints.

First game there was close....second game...Oh well !!

  6. yep............but its every year..........lets just play the game.......:tigereye:
