I always thought Mike's cage was bad until I saw the trash can that southern keeps that Jaguar locked up in. That thing is awful.

Hey not all liberals are up in arms about having Mike. In fact very few are. Its the crazies like PETA who stand out because they are in fact crazies. I for one (a liberal) take comfort in the fact that this new tiger habitat ensures that we will have a live tiger mascot for years to come.
You are probably right, that was an unfair statement and actually you would be hard pressed to find a bigger defender of Animal rights them me, and I am FAR from the left. I do apologize....
Atleast Mike's wasn't as bad as the tigers at the Tiger Truck stop on I-10 going from Baton Rouge to Lafayette. Those tigers were skinny and looked in bad shape last time I saw them.
I was at LSU today and the cage is totally demolished. They were cleaning up the last few bricks. There were several people, myself included, who got a few bricks. The lady in the Tiger gift center said Mike was at the BR Zoo.
Besides, where was it that PETA suggested we send Mike to? Some "wildlife reservation" someplace??? . Any tiger that LSU gets, will have an entire Vet school at his disposal along with a soon-to-be first class fascility that most zoos out there would envy. THrow in the fact that no one has to worry about him becoming a rug because of crazy potchers, and all is well.
Thats exactly what they said, it was in article in the Advocate last year I think... But yeh you said it exactly, it was that big push they had to get Colleges to stop using Animals as Mascots (live ones) and LSU was #1 on their target list. They figured while in town why not bust Southerns Chops.. Let me see if I can dig that thing up.
