I don't care if he's green with yellow spots and orange stripes, as long as he is a good leader and wins the games he should win. I believe that the coaches would start who they felt gave us the best opportunity to win the games. If they did not feel like Russell was that guy then Flynn would have started all the games this year. That being said, I hope that there was something in Flynn that they didn't see and he comes in and destroys the Miami defense.

I agree they do exist, but I think it is probably a small percentage in this situation. The people calling for Flynn are probably the same ones who were begging for Rohan when Booty was starting. Which would throw out race being the reason. I just wan twhoever is gonna win the damn ballgame to play. But I'm always curious to see what the back-ups can do. It's possible that Flynn is better in games than he is in practice. Its also possible that he can't handle a big time opponent. I just want to see it.

Now, I wouldn't exactly say that I'm 'calling for Flynn' so much as I'm eager to see what he can do. But I do remember that the QB race in practice was said to be about as evenly matched as it possibly could have been. So yeah, maybe Matt does possess that gametime intangible that you can't see in practice. And that's certainly not to say that Jamarcus does not. He clearly rises to the occassion when we absolutely positively must score. But I guess that many would argue that a more academic QB wouldn't be in that situation to begin with. Who knows.

I don't think the QB race in practice was as close as Miles indicated. In the spring scrimmage, Russell worked solely with the first team, while Flynn with the second. He got a series or two with the first team. And the whole summer, it seemed that Russell was working with the first team. So I don't know how close it really was.

Mark May just said that when he saw LSU practice that in his own opinion that the team rallied around Flynn the best of anyone, so we will find out tommorrow I guess

yeah, I compared what I've seen to the booty-rohan competition..the team just played better with rohan.

it just seems like the team gives up on JR... lots of dropped passes, missed blocks... maybe they feel the need to play better because they think MF is a lesser player... who knows. I just like his mobility. maybe he can't throw the ball 75 yards downfield off his back foot being attacked by a bear, a tornado, and 5 lions... but he can get out the pocket if need be... get one of our playmakers time to break out of coverage, or find a spot in the zone...

he even brings back our abilitiy to run qb draws and some sprint options and draw play actions. It sucks that his first game will be vs miami...an awesome defense because if he goes 30/30 for 400 yards and 5 tds he still has to prove himself next season... while at the same time if he goes 2/20 10 yards and 5 int's he's done... all he can do in this game is make a lot of JR lovers think that he's a decent backup.

Personally, I like how awesome Flynn was in high school. And that's about all any of us know about him.

There may be some truth to this. If you were to look at what Flynn did when he came in for mop up duty, you could say that the players around him were playing better with Flynn in the game. However, it didn't happen for the SECCG & it was done against far inferior opponents before then - so there's just no way to really know right now.

Myself, and I think all LSU fans, are hoping for Flynn to have a great game against Miami & go into summer & spring ball competing for the starting position with JR, Flynn & RP all pushing each other to be better. Some people might have a slight preference for who they want to win, but we all want the best person out on the field.
