    I was thinking the exact same thing.

    edit: Looking at the "sight" at the front, and the hook on top, would something rest through that eye and on the sight?

    Maybe it's just me, but perhaps THIS sort of stuff is what our founding fathers had in mind regarding "cruel and unusual punishment." Hanging and the electric chair seem rather pleasant by comparison.

    Correctimundo.

    I own two of these, both over 100 years old. My grandpa used them for thawing frozen water pipes, melting lead, freeing rusted bolts, brazing, melting tar and odd jobs around the farm.

    I just buff them with an rag and hang them up in the garage because they are solid brass and look really cool. I find that I rarely need a blowtorch in the city.
