It's a hemipene....the gas tank reference is because Snakes mate all twisted up like the twist ties on loaves of bread, and the snakes never know if they're gonna hang left or right. Therefore they are prepared either way. They have a penis that has a cleft in it much like a valentine. The hooks are to prevent "slippage".
