    No, you can use a cord and knife for that. I only know this because my dad had to make steers when he was growing up.

    You do wear it around your neck and I guess it would make a great corn on the cob holder at the camp, but that is not it's intended function. Funny none the less.

    Well, I prefer the corn on the cob holder, but the guy at the ice house used this to pick up blocks of ice.

    I'm pretty sure they use handled hooks to carry blocks of ice (my dad used to pick it up in West Texas when he was a kid). This allegedly originated in Sweden and is widely used in Nordic countries as well the northern tier of the U.S.
