The string is not required for its use. Its main purpose is not an anchor, counterweight or ninja weapon. Yes, Red, anything can be made into an anchor or even made into a weapon by a Ninja, but that isn't its intended use. I suppose it could be considered a multi-tool, but all ends are designed to fit different sizes of the same thing.
