    Looks like a molding tool for a lathe.

    It could be a leather working tool....to make long straight impressions in leather belts, boots, or saddles and such.

    Not for a lathe or for working leather.

    Hint 1: the blade is not sharp.

    Hint 2: This tool is old. Used by the ancient Egyptians and still used today for the same task.

    I took a tour at the Wooden Boat Museum in Mandeville over the weekend. They had several of these.
    It is a caulk pusher-inner thingy used in building/repairing wooden boats. In the old days they would soak hemp in tar or pitch and use this tool to force the hemp into the gaps between the boards.

    Ahem. It is a caulking iron. Used to drive oakum into the gaps between planks to waterproof wooden ships and boats.
