lost in all of our joy for the usc loss... Im not sure anyone mentioned vince young's performance. It was maybe the most dominating performance of any single player in a football game... ever. ESPECIALLY a big game like this. 3td's... and did he dance or taunt or even show one sign of celebration before the game was over? not once. he scored a TD with 19 seconds left, to put his team on top, in the nat'l championship vs a team that was 34-0 and a 7 pt favorite. he ran, slowed down, stopped, and went back to the huddle... the nfl guys cant even do that... then, if anyone saw his post game interview... he coulda easily talked about how he played a good game, but instead talked about how well his line blocked, how open his receivers were... he even talked about how great coach brown is. while his defense played poorly, he praised them for the big stop and said he never doubted their heart or the fact that they'd get the O the ball back. he thanked God a few times... he seems like a really, genuinely, good kid. you see lienart and eli partying in college... little vick gets caught with drugs and stomps players...UT's whole team goes to jail, FSU has a new scandal every year... miami's team... well I dont have to mention them... but you get the picture... UT has a tradition of graduating their good players and they've kept it up (ricky, roy williams, cedric benson, johnson (LB from last year), quinton jammer, chris simms, major applewhite...) the list goes on... stud players... they must be doing something right
i agree.......young was a total badace tonight and if he comes back next year you can pretty much hand him the heisman...anyway i cant wait for next year.
definately... I'd much rather see the saints draft young than leinart too. a) leinart is a fairy that takes ballroom dancing. b) leinart went to usc c) leinart really has no arm strength what-so-ever d) did you see vince young? e) vince young will put people in the seats, whereas leinart is boring f) did you see vince young?
He is quite a classy competitor. Some gave him grief for his reaction to Bush winning the Heisman. Hell, he wanted to win. I would have to. I don't think he meant any disrespect to Bush. He made the greatest improvement in one year (mid-season 2004 to mid-season 2005) of any college player I can recall. There are many theories as to why this happened but I think most of the "improvement" came about when his coaches figured out how to leave him alone and put him in a position to do what he does best. Vince has had no relationship with his father for many years. Last week, days before the NC game, the Austin paper did an interview and story about Vince's father who is in a Texas prison serving time for burglary, the latest in a long history of property crimes. Vince declined to participate and asked his family not to be interviewed for the story. Paper went with it anyway. I realize it comes with the territory when you're a celebrity but sometimes, I'd like the media to look at a story, take the high road and say, "nah, we'll leave that one alone for now." Obviously, in the championship arena, the young man did not want to talk about his criminal father. Just seems a writer and the rag he works for could understand that.
