My roommate & I went up to visit a friend of ours that goes to University of Texas. We also headed up to Dallas for the game. I thought I would give ya'll some of the impressions I got while we were there. Here goes... We got to UT wensday night in time for a torchlight parade. UT has got to be the most egotistical group of people I've ever seen. They truly believe they are God's gift to the universe and are better than everyone. Alot of the kids come from rich families and are spoiled rotten. They are people who can sit around and not do jack but go somewhere in life because of their parents. Also, UT is obsessed with OU, every UT person in Austin was wearing a shirt making fun of OU. A comment from the pep rally I found funny was, "There's really only one difference between OU & UT. When we applied to UT, we got in." After the game, I heard "That's okay, you Sooners will be working for me someday" alot from the Texas fans. Man, what a stick they have up their ass... Drugs at UT are also much, much worse than LSU. You have to figure that there will be that sort of thing at any college campus, but I didn't meet a single person in Austin who didn't do drugs. LSU is more of a beer drinking party atmosphere. UT is more of a pot-smoking, X-box playing atmosphere. We went to the State Fair right outside the Cotton Bowl in Texas to watch the game on a big TV. Apparently, OU fans were a little sore about their loss to LSU. My roommate was in his "LSU tuxedo" and I was just in an LSU shirt with a hat. I have to say, as much as I would like to not classify fans, there was an abundance of drunk white-trash OU fans there. They had plenty of fans that looked like regular people, who never said a word to us - only some funny looks. But there were a few OU fans that tried to give us a hard time. We joked back with them and eventually they were pretty cool. We had a couple people come up to us and say they were LSU fans and wondered what time the game was coming on and such. One couple told us they were afraid to wear their LSU stuff because they didn't want to be taunted by OU. It was nice to be 9 hours away and still find several LSU fans.
There was a guy a couple of people down from me in the Texas section wearing a white shirt with a white LSU hat. In fact, I saw quite a few LSU fans there. As for the Texas being obsessed with OU part...it's a heated rivalry. That kind of stuff happens. As you saw from the game, every single OU fan had some sort of shirt saying something like "4 in a row" or "Tuck Fexas" or "Texas sucks". It works both ways in rivalries.
I'm sure it does work both ways, but I was in Austin & Dallas with UT fans, not OU fans so I really didn't get to see that side as much.
I have quite a few friends who attend OU who have the upside down horns logo bumper sticker on their cars.
I think the obsession is stronger on the OU side than the UT side. Oklahoma players were giving the horns down sign when they were beating COLORADO in the Big XII title game in Houston two years ago. You could make the argument that Buffs have horns too, but seriously. The year OU won the championship, the president shut down classes the Monday after OU beat Texas. And Texas should be proud. It's considerably tough to get in there (particularly for a public school) and they have a great university, but Oklahoma's no slouch, either. Oh, and UT would have tons of white-trash fans too if it weren't for the Cowboys eating all those fans up.
thats like saying LSU is obsessed with Tulane. Not even close. UT is obsessed with OU because they are owned. OU just enjoys humiliating them every chance they get and I cannot blame them.
So when's the last time Tulane beat LSU three years in a row? That's what happened before this current streak for OU. When's the last time LSU cancelled classes the Monday after thrashing Tulane? It works both ways. The OU-Texas series is filled with winning streaks on both sides.
LSU has no true rivalry. It sure would happen this way if LSU/Ole Myth was as big a rivalry today as it was in the past. hard for us to understand it in the same way they do but trust me when I tell you OU is obsessed but simply obsessed with making fun of their bitches, help mac pack UT.
Are you saying that OU fans hate Texas only because they have won 5 in a row against Texas? When they cancelled class in 2000, it was after a win that broke a 3 game win streak by Texas. I know your memory might not go back more than 5 years, but the rivalry didn't just start 5 years ago. Texas has the all time series lead by 15. OU doesn't hate Texas just because "they like to make fun of their bitches".
well of course i know it goes back forever but those students who are showing the upside down horns are simply mocking you since they only know ownage. what is your opnion of Mac and what the administration should do if anything?
