Undiscplined Team

I'm sure its been noted on here before, but this team is completely undisciplined. Please explain to me how a senior laden team like LSU can commit so many STUPID penalties. I understand that penalities happen in football games, but the penalties that LSU get always come at the worse times and are always the dumb ones. By dumb ones I mean the pre snap penalties and the after the play penalties. I can live with offsides penalties. I think the teams lack of discipline has to go back to the man in charge. Case and point was the drive in which LSU committed a pass interference by a senior, a blatant late hit penalty by JR Laron Landry and Les Miles goes nuts. Then the next play Landry commits a facemask. It was a two possesion game at the time of these penalties.

Not to mention the TD pass from Russell to Brazell gets called back b/c of an obvious hold by SR Rudy Niswanger. When your team is at the bottom in penalties in the conference, that HAS to reflect the coach. Last year LSU committed roughly 4 penalties a game for 45 yards a game. Fastforward to this year and LSU is committing roughly 8 penalties a game at 70 yards per. I understand that penalties happen, but they just committ the dumbest ones and at the worst times. All that said, congrats to the Tigers on overcoming there own demons and all the circumstances to win 10 games. It's ashame though that a team can win 10 games and have to play in the cotton or peach bowl. :thumb:

I said the EXACT same words while watching this game. Throw in a "plug" for tackling technique too. I have watched WAY too many RB's get stopped at the line of scrimmage only to wiggle free because someone is trying to rip out the ball instead OR trying arm tackles on guys that run 3 inches off the ground.

I see this ship starting to sink.................w/o many of the seniors we have now, next year and INCONSISTENT QB play AT BEST..............and a lack of basic fundamentals we could be in for a long ride.

How exactly does your case and point clarify that two penalties are as a result of a lack of discipline imposed by Miles? Don't you think that he would prefer those two penalties to have not happened? Miles went ballistic because from his view of the real time speed of that hit (which was fast as shiat) Landry popped him before the other guy went OB. Now, from the replay, Joe-Average-Fan-Who-Thinks-All-Things-Bad-Are-Coach's-Fault, can see that he was OB at the time of the hit, but Miles can't see that. He was standing up for the play that HE saw...in real time.

Seriously, it ain't Miles's fault. It's as simple as Landry playing less wild-man and not laying questionable hits or grabbing around someone's head. Really doesn't involve the coach, unless some time at practice, Miles has said, "Listen guys, I really could give two shiats about penalties. Let's just play as careless as possible and see what we can get away with." Until I get some audio of that, a penalty, especially those like late hits and face masks, will be a result of the offending player playing carelessly and, sometimes, a bit TOO agressive...ALWAYS.

I believe that SOME players will play different ways for a different coach. I know that some people won't want to hear this, but I believe that under Saban, there would be a lot less stupied penalties. I believe that these players dont have the respect or fear for Miles like they did for Saban. Sooo, it makes it a lot easier to make mistakes and do stupid things like that when you dont have the fear of being completely torn apart by the coach. Is it all Miles? No it's not. But, you cant argue that there is obviously a different feeling about these Tigers under Miles.

Hey Scrap, I know you are not a fan of JR and I'm just wondering how impressed you were with Flynn's play last night. Funny how not having a 4 TD lead affects your abilities, huh?

Funny how being thrust into a situation where the team had no chance of winning anyway changes your ability huh? I think that Flynn could be better than Russell but we will never know. That is the way it should be b/c obviously the guys that make the decisions believe JR is better. Having said all that, is it really a fair gauge of what the guy can do when he comes into a game that was already over? The team didnt care. It was obvious. If that injury occurs early in the 2nd quarter who knows what would have happened. But, that is a very tough spot to be in.

all im asking is flynn get a week to prepare as the starting qb. that's all I ask. that was a two man route and they were both out routes. The defense KNEW EXACTLY WHAT LSU WAS GOING TO RUN! you can see the two corners sitting on the out route. wtf was he supposed to do. inside his own 20? the timing on the pass was good, it was just great defense.

and scrappy, I happen to agree with you a lot, and this case isn't any different. No matter how many penalties CLM's team commits.. no matter how many times they leave their lanes on kick coverage.. no matter how many times they hold on a kick return.. no matter the false starts, offsides, and blocks in the back affect the game... some people just won't admit that miles' isnt doing a wonderful job. he's our savior and if clm can't do it, no coach in the country can. gimme' a break, the guy's a 7-4 type of coach. you'll see

I can't fault Laron for that hit. He's the safety and it's his job to stop a guy going down the sideline for a possible td. When Laron left his feet for that flying hit the runner was still in bounds and just barely out of bounds when he made the hit. I can't fault him for that. He's the best player on our team. He's saved our butts many times this year.
