If Auburn has a weakness on this team, it's a relatively untested secondary. They were a big question mark going into the season, and they really have yet to face a team that's capable of picking up the blitz and catching them in man coverage. Another minor issue is the health of the center. Pollack is a monster, and they will line him up across from either an untested replacement (not to mention the line shuffle that comes with it), or the slightly hobbled Ingle. Pollack is gonna have a BIG day. One more interesting tidbit about this series is that its reminiscent of the Alabama - LSU rivalry. The visiting team has won too many times in this series. It's a pick'em, as far as I'm concerned. If I were a bettin' man, I'd take the pups and the points.
You mean our All-SEC corner Carlos Rogers or veteran safety Junior Rosegreen? The corner opposite Rogers is a soph, so he's the weak point, but your post is a bit off target here. Pollack is a DE...he'll be rushing the Tackles: McNeill and Reddick. He was basically held in check last year.
Pollack caused the disruption that lead to the Odell Thurman interception and runback last year. And Pollock sacked Campbell for the final down during the last game played at Auburn, where Georgia scored on the late Michael Johnson TD and made it into the SECCG. But Pollock is the first one to admit that it takes good players around him to make him effective. The only player that I have heard is doubtful is A.J. Bryant, but who knows?
Fair enough. Well, let's examine his last four years at UGA then. I never denied that the kid is good. Just said that his stats weren't very impressive last year vs. AU.
True, Pollack will be going against Marcus McNeil (1st round draft pick) who will - far all intents and purposes - neutralize Pollack. AU's secondary will not be the "weak spot." Rather, the question is likely to be whether UGA can run successfully between the tackles. If AU shuts down the run without the aid of the safeties, AU will win by 2 TD's. If not, UGA is definately capable of utilizing the play-action to create man-mismatches with Pope down the middle and the WR's on the weakside CB, Montae Pitts. Pitts is solid from a speed/height/hands perspective (4.29, 6'-3", great hands) Chizik desires that he play with more agression. The only thing he lacks is experience.....
Pretty sad that Mark Richt could only get his team to play up to their ability in one game this year.
Preseason hype got em. I knew they were a fraud. Now I'd like to see em get shut out and Auburn shut out the Orange.
