1. What if USC outgains OU about 800 yards to minus 100, but through some freak bounces of the ball, OU wins by a point? And, for the sake of argument, what if AU beats Va Tech 90 - 0? I know these things are highly unlikely, but I would never say never. Under these scenarios, do you think the AP votes AU #1? Possible? Yes. Probable? It's about a million to one... Keep the faith. I am! I desperately want a split championship!
  2. What I'm saying is that LSU would have beaten 2 fairly highly ranked (was AU in the top 10 when we played them?) teams by week 5, while USC and OU hadn't played their "name" opponents yet. Even the biased media would have to have given LSU sufficient votes to at least jump past OU. Remember, we're dealing in ifs here. If we were undefeated after the Ga game, that would have been 12 or 13 wins in a row, one of which was over Oklahoma.
  3. LSU would have stayed behind SC and OU because neither group of pollsters like how LSU won the Championship last year. That's why the BCS was changed. That's why we dropped when we barely beat OSU, but SC and OU didn't drop after lackluster performances--including SC's against OSU. Even if we had passed them, we would have ben passed back by barely beating Troy.

As long as SC and OU were undefeated, they were going to the Orange Bowl.

  4. ^^^ This man is right.
  5. That's not exactly correct. The media was pissed that USC didn't get in and Oklahoma, who had gotten b!tch slapped by KSU, did. LSU was a consensus #2. I often hear lately how this (USC vs. OU) is the game "they" wanted last year. Not true. "They" wanted USC in there.
  6. I hear what you're sayin' SF, but consider this...... if LSU, UGA, UT, and AU win their respective bowl games (good chance), Auburn will become the first team in CFB history to have 5 wins over opponents with at least 10 wins - in a season - ever. If Auburn didn't have a chance this year at playing for the MNC, then IMO, I doubt any SEC program did - no offense.
  7. Have to agree with you on this one Caddy, no way the pollsters were going to drop OU and especially not USC.
  8. Well, I don't want to keep on beating this ole dead horse, but Auburn started out ranked 18 and was coming off a disappointing season. LSU was defending BCS champs and pre-season #3. Huge difference there. Anyway, I made my point and I respect your right to disagree.
  9. If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, what a wonderful Christmas it would be.
