  3. While in New Orleans recently my brother & I visited the WWII museum. Near the end of the exhibits was an exhibit on the preparations for invading Japan had we not dropped the A bombs. Casualties were projected to exceed 200,000 on the US side.

Dropping the bombs ended the war and saved American lives.
  4. Tag you are it.
  5. Pineville, across the Red River from Alexandria.
After Sherman left, maybe even after the Civil War it was moved to the buildings near the capitol in Baton Rouge. I think it is called the Pentagon Buildings or something like that.

Sometimes it pays to be old.

  8. Interesting. Years ago when I toured the Arizona Memorial I saw several Japanese tourists pointing, laughing, enjoying it. It was an odd reaction considering that it's generally a very somber environment there. It is a gravesite afterall. Take your students there. Nice vacation for you.

Interesting side effect though to be growing up in the era of a largely unpopular war and to then place prior conflicts in the proper context.
  9. a few years more that -90
  10. Hitler had two trains for his own use. "Brandenburg" was one, name the second.
