Transfers?

Hey, DD mentions this morning that he expects 4-6 transfers after the Chik-Fil-A bowl. Any idea who he is referring to? How will this effect recruiting numbers - i.e., do we then have more slots to fill? I do not recall losing that many players to transfer in the past, but maybe it happens and I am not aware. Do we typically have this number leave? Poor season, coaching changes, or just frustration from lack of PT playing a role in this?

    Other thoughts/considerations?

I'd say that is more transfers than usual, but not by much.

I've got some guesses for who, but not based on anything.

And the transfers have to occur for us to sign a class of 25.

Purely guesses of who is going to transfer/leave early:

    RJF-NFL(can't keep grades up?)

    J. Mitchell-MLB

    Ricky Dixon-Transfer

    Steffon Francois-Transfer

    John Williams-Transfer

    R.J. Jackson-Transfer(is it possible?)

    Chris Mitchell-Transfer(is it possible?)

one of the young CBs, take your pick

    longshot:

    Lafell
    Scott

Don't think either of those will leave. Not sure Lafell would be a first-rounder right now but probably is borderline.

I am glad PP is not on your list.

    You mean Patrick Johnson?

    Of course he isn't transferring...

Yeah, I did not necessarily think he was, just feared it. The defense was having a some rough outings at the end there, and you could imagine a young highly recruited player going through some discontent. When I read 4-6 transferring, I don't know why but I immediately thought of him, hoping he was not one of them.

The least likely person to transfer is the guy who gets to be a starter as a true freshman.

As for the performance of our defense, that doesn't effect his draft potential unless he is part of the reason why our D struggles. The scouts are just looking at what he does--how well he plays his position. As long as he is playing great as a CB, NFL scouts could care less how our D looks.

Look at some of the CBs taken in the 1st Round of the last two drafts:
CB from an Arizona team that went 5-7, 6-6, 3-8
CB from a Middle Tenn team that went 5-7, 7-6, 4-7
CB from a Pitt team that went 6-6, 5-6, 5-6
