"Saban is grumpy and PO'ed at this situation the crud could hit the fan. This will be an interesting day......no control, no taking the job." message from a pretty reliable source.
Latest rumor as of minutes ago is that Saban will be meeting with his assistant coaches tomorrow morning to inform them of his decision.
This may be accurate (imagine that !), ESPN 1420 radio in Lafayette is now reporting that the Dolphins have called a press conference for tomorrow morning to announce their new head coach. I've heard so much BS since this story broke that I don't know what to believe. We shall see. Have the Dolphins officicially spoken to anyone besides Saban ? Did the Art Shell interview take place ?
If there is one common theme that all news organizations always get right, it's the 'news conference is scheduled' rumor. They always get wind of it because the teams want the news media to be set up and ready. When all big moves are made, in NBA, NFL, MLB, etc you always hear about the Press Conference it at least a day before (even if they aren't certain what will be announced). If all the news organizations start reporting that MIAMI is holding a press conference for Wednesday, it is 99.99% certain they'll be announcing their head coach. No way in hell it is anyone other than Saban if it is held tom. They did interview Shell Monday, and are interviewing Bates today, according to a dolphins spokesman. The only person they've had time to negotiate, present, and agree to a contract with is guess who. This is the most believable news that has been posted in the last week imo.
Well... it could be there interim coach... I like to be optimistic. But it certainly looks like if they are announcing a new coach the same morning as Saban is having a press conference...
They are not hiring their interim coach. If there is a news conference held tomorrow, it will be to announce that Nick Saban is the next Miami Dolphins head coach. If there is no press conference, then the search continues, and we are out of the woods as Saban will be staying.
Thanks Coach Saban for the memories. Now, lets get on with the healing process and look forward to the search committee doing whatever it takes to get another winning coach in here.
It's possible that the rumor of a Dolphins press conference came about after the word of Nick's got out....maybe it was just made up? I'm trying reeeaaalll hard to be optimistic.
It's really good to be optimistic....I applaud you for that....just throw in a hint of realism, and you'll be better off (regarding the interim coach thingy)
let's just put this behind us and find us a good gd football coach, i'm sick of all this, "he's going, he's staying, he's going" crap. If he ain't happy now, he won't be happy next year, either. :angryfire
