I was looking over the list of former Tigers currently in the NFL and decided to put together a team, made up of JUST former Tigers. Now, I know that every NFL team needs reserves for substitutions, injury replacements, etc....and I know that there aren't 53 former Tigers currently in the pros, but I used all the available ones I could to form a "new" NFL team. Starters are in BOLD for positions with multiple players.... Starters were also chosen based on CURRENT NFL performance. I don't think this team could win a Super Bowl, but I think anywhere between 7-10 wins is reachable Anyhow...without further delay I give you, the NFL's version of the LSU Fighting Tigers! QB Matt Mauck Rohan Davey Marcus Randall (Mauck gets the nod over Rohan due to the fact that even though Rohan never really got a lot of experience, he really didn't prove to be a consistant starter...And I like Matt's "smarts". But that still might not be enough...we don't have any real experienced QB's) Running Back Domanick Davis Kevin Faulk (3rd down specialist) LaBrandon Toefield (used in short yardage and have to play some FB) (with no true fullback, Toefield, the biggest of the backs could lineup there occassionally, or we could use a TE/H-back). Wide Receivers Michael Clayton Eddie Kennison Josh Reed Devery Henderson (Kennison gets the nod at #2 over Reed due to the fact that Eddie IS a full-time starter and has proven his reliability through the years) Tight End Robert Royal Eric Edwards Offensive Tackles Marcus Price Steven Peterman (Peterman has to move to tackle even though he's a guard for the Cowboys...Price would be our only true tackle) Offensive Guards Alan Faneca Todd McClure (YES, I know McClure is a center...but if I had another O-lineman capable of playing guard, I would have put McClure at center. But I think Todd is a better player capable of making the center-to-guard switch than Mawae given Mawae's age, etc.) Center Kevin Mawae (Like I said, McClure would actually have been the starting center on my All-Tiger NFL team given Mawae's age, etc....but you still can't argue with a multiple Pro-Bowl selection like Mawae as your center no matter how old he may be) Defensive Tackles Chad Lavalais Booger McFarland Kenderick Allen Defensive Ends Jarvis Green Marcus Spears Marquise Hill Linebackers Bradie James Trev Faulk Eric Alexander (decent at LB. James is ledgit. Faulk is ledgit. Alexander is forced here due to the fact that we don't have any other LB's in the pros....) Cornerbacks Travis Daniels Tory James Corey Webster (nickel back) Randall Gay (dime back) Fred Booker (Daniels gets the nod as #1 CB due to his 60 tackles and 3 INT's this year. Tory James starts over Webster because even with 10 years on those legs of his, James had 57 tackles and 5 INT's in '05 to Webster's 38 tackles. Gay is the dime back due to the fact that he's actually New England's nickel back while Fred Booker is nothing more than a reserve). Safeties Mark Roman Ryan Clark Norman LeJeune (pretty straight-forward. Roman and Clark are the only former Tiger safeties that actually start in the NFL--or at least log some serious playing time. LeJeune gets the nod as the backup safety over Adrian Mayes due to the fact that LeJeune has been "active" more games than Mayes...) Punter Donnie Jones Kicker Wade Richie (OK! I broke the rules. I have a player that's NOT on an active roster! Shot me! --Well, don't, but what would you have me do??? Beg Donnie Jones to learn to kick FG's??? Fine. Put Jones at kicker if you really want to! ) Special Teams Players Denard Walker Adrian Mayes (what good team is without good special teams aces??? in the late '80's and early '90's, there was Bates with the Cowboys....Now it's Larry Izzo with the Patriots--guys that don't play a whole lot on offense or defense--just special teams.... Bet you didn't think I would find a place for an aging veteran like Denard...or a "between positions"-type of player like Mayes???) So...that's my Pro team composed primarily of former Tigers! Yeah, we'd have to search for a few more O-linemen, a few more linebackers, an extra WR and another D-lineman.... but if this team could draft Kyle Williams, LaRon Landry, Cameron Vaughn, David Jones, Joseph Addai, Skyler Green, Andrew Withworth in the 7-round draft and sign Niswanger, Melvin Oliver and Bennie Brazell to undrafted FA contracts, we're WELL on our way to a complete 53-man roster. :thumb: P.S. ...yes, I was bored when I did all of this....
id definately start davey. (what about nall?) why not more pt for denard walker in secondary. hes still a starter right?
Nall is listed as Northwestern St. Denard had but like 3 tackles all year....either he was hurt, or he's getting phased out, I haven't followed him much this year.
