Scott Rabalais had a very interesting article in this morning's Advocate. He stated that Tiger Stadium is not what it used to be. Many fans leave at the half and many students don't even bother to show up. As a matter of fact LSU is reselling student tickets for the LSU-Ole Miss game with a warning that the students could lose tickets if they don't start using them. I also have noticed fans leaving way too early and have commented on it to friends. By the end of the first half the stadium is half empty. This is a disgrace. When I go to a game I never leave until the game is over and the coaches are on the field. I don't see the point of leaving early just to beat the traffic - especially with the game just half over. The Tigers are deserving of more support than that. I would be interested in hearing any thoughts on this.

The home schedule sucks this year... and we have lost the only games that required any coaching to be displayed.

When the fanbase is assured of what the outcome will be, there is no sense in staying around to watch an annihilation.

I can't think of a better place to be on a Saturday in the fall. Our time eacc year for being in the stadium is so very limited. When I am there, we usually leave a few minutes after the game. I too find it frustrating to see people leave so early. A lot of those young men that get to play late in blowout games are very deserving of having a packed stadium see them play. For many, their first time playing is in front of less than 50k. Quite sad.

I agree and I know some feel you stay anyway, but watching a rout is boring. The only reason I'd stay would be to see younger players.

You hit it right on the head.

Until we get enough balls to put real teams on our schedule, then that's the way it will be.

PURPLE TIGER HOPE is not a strategy!

Did anyone at LSU ever consider that the reason people (non-students) leave early is because of the traffic? The current parking and traffic plan is horrible!

I can understand the logistics of dealing with the Mississippi River and the fact that you have 100,000+ people on campus. What I can't understand is why we still have police escorts for VIPs,...($)...why they wasted hundreds of parking spaces on River Road in lieu of a half-empty lot of RVs,...($)...why the police change routes without notice...(?)...and the fact that the escalator for the East Upper deck is always broken.

I waited until the clock hit zero last week before I left the stadium. I walked 25 minutes to get to my car and then realized that my normal exit route had been blocked by barricades. From the time the game ended, it took me almost two hours to get to I-10.

Hell, even braindead Kathleen Blanco could devise a better traffic plan. I'm leaving for the game right now and would like to stay until the end but probably won't knowing how screwed up the traffic plan is.

I wish they could devise some type of "light rail" on the existing tracks to get people a mile or two away from the staudium to remote parking lots. I've tried the commuter bus a few times and it was a disaster. One night the bus caught on fire and we were stranded on Nicholson for about two hours. :nope:

The student section has empty seats because it is a pain to transfer tickets since they started printing names on them....it has to be done by the latest on the Friday before the game at 5 PM.

It has NOTHING to do with students not wanting to go to the games.

Hell, I love blowouts. So long as it's LSU doing the blowout.
