Digger Phelps says he has a good chance at being the overall #1 pick in the NBA draft.

I didn't get to see the Utah game vs. LSU earlier this year.

Anybody with opinions on this guy?

I've only seen him in MWC games. I want to see him face Oklahoma's depth before calling him #1.

Digger Phelps... did anyone else catch him Sunday? Who dresses him? My opinion of Digger went way down in the early 80's. He knew about Hot Rod Williams and the $10,000 shoe box, but would not report it. The he got on his high horse about cheaters. If he wasn't going to turn in Tulane, what moral ground did he stand on about cheaters? He was abeting the crime.

Been hearing the same thing about Bogut here in Atlanta where the Hawks are diligently working their way into the #1 draft position. But the boo-birds are already singing loudly about using a #1 pick on a "white center from Utah" instead of a player "of color" that can put butts in seats.

Not trying to turn this into a racial discusssion, but most of the sports talk has been about the economic situation for the ailing Hawks franchise..... they should've drafted Lebron and they wouldn't be in the current situation.

I'm sure they would have if they had the 1st pick in the draft!

I heard the same stuff on ESPN radio and local radio about Bogut going #1. I've only seen him play once, and he looked pretty darned good. Like many most years, his draft position will be a function of who is picking where.

I saw him in the Olympics, he was very impressive. He held his own against Tim Duncan...for an 18 year old that is quite a statement.

he's their entire team and hes damn good but its funny how everyone is suddenly hearing how hes the best overall player. Sounds like his agent has done his job and some media personalities are making a little extra cash this way.

the thing is with Utah or any team with a big man as we've seen recently is that they can be successful in the trny but if that one player is held in check thenits lights out. And thats whats been happening with Utah....teams have been occassionally shutting the big bogut down.

Doesn't have the strength yet to be the best player in the draft IMO, but then again all the prospects this year are weak and have their flaws. I guess in a down year most teams would take a chance at drafting him number one.

This is EXACTLY what I was going to mention. He held his own in Athens against the world's best. He was admittedly not expected to do much more than get experience, though its always been widely held that he's one of their nation's up and comers...

I don't know where you guys come from saying he's been a johnny come lately and his agent has spun...The results from the Olympics spoke for themselves, and he is a very talented player. He has great coordination and can run very quickly, and is very quick on spin moves and the like.

The scouts who were in attendance at the Olympics, as well as the cameras and the commentators and those who watched the games created more buzz for Bogut than any agent ever did...
