.... apparently, everyone except the Alabama BoT and fanbase knew this since they extended his contract only a few months prior to his firing.
Shula came in as one of Bama's favorite sons, and he performed admirably given the incredible mess he was handed, but the fanbase has unfairly ostracized Mikey and placed him in exile. It's funny .....
when you querie Bama fans about their recent performance, they always play the sanctions card, but when you ask them about Shula, they feel Shula shoul've overcome it. LMAO.
You want honesty? .... here's some honesty:
* Bama fan's expectations are unrealistic, fueled by an administration that continues to market a coach that has been dead for more than 20 years. Financially lucrative, yes ..... but hardly an ideal environment if you're Saban.
* Contrary to your claim, the LSU fans on this board complaining about the selection of Miles were not a majority, they were a vocal minority.
* Neither Saban, nor any other human, can meet the expectations of the bama fanbase.
* Mal Moore's commitment to keep the boosters out of Saban's business will last until the first time Saban has a miscue. Like say, a seven-and-five season in 2007.
* A significant number of Bama fans don't understand why Bama can't seem to dominate the NCAA every year ..... seemingly ignoring the impact of scholarship limitations on the landscape of CFB. The word of the day is, "parity," folks.
* Saban is a very good coach and he will do a better job than Shula, but no Bammer ever seems to acknowledge Shula and gives him the credit he deserves for getting Bama out of purgatory. What a shameful way to treat one of your own.
* The Bama BoT has been very short-sighted. They were totally prison-raped by Jimmy Sexton ...... a certain indicator of the level of their desperation. UA overpaid for Saban by a country mile ..... and, in the end, that will be his downfall at UA.
