Louisiana produces more NFL talent per capita than any other state. LSU is the only big school in our state. LSU has a large fanbase with people willing to put up money (although not at the level of Bama). All these things make LSU a school that should always be pretty good. LSU needed a coach that could lock down the borders with recruiting & get our facilities built up. Saban did that, but don't kid yourself, tons of coaches could have. It is our own fault that we kept hiring bad coaches who couldn't get it done before him. Actually, his situation at LSU couldn't have been much better. He inherited a team which had only won 3 games the year before, but still had a lot of NFL talent. I can't remember the numbers, but a lot of those guys went to the league. Saban also benefited from an SEC that wasn't as strong as it is today, getting to the SECCG with 4 losses in 2001. All of this combined to make him look like a god when all he did was not be an idiot.
Like LVTGRFN said, the relationship between LSU and Nick Saban was mutually beneficial. Saban chose to leave us. It was his choice - maybe not the best choice but an understandable one. When he left most were disappointed but appreciative of the time we spent together. Now, Saban has chosen to become tiger-bait for an exorbanant amount of money and we owe him no loyalty because he sold it for a chance to coach at Alabama. I don't fault him for it, I'll always be thankful for what he did, and I have respect for his coaching ability, but he'll be tiger-bait until he leaves the SEC. Anyway, to quote the great Nick Saban... "It's time to move on." :helmet:
That is the thing alot of people overlook. Dinardo had some good seasons until the wheels came off his last. He had good talent but he lost control of it. Once the 4th loss hit the team wasn't playing for him anymore. Proof was the final game against Arky when Hal Hunter took over.
yes i agree with you on the saban vs fla. thing that was my point, didn't know if you agreeing or disagreeing. please don't lump me in with the JR haters, i've backed him since day one. as far as the peach bowl goes, miles outcoached coker, our D otplayed their O, and our O outplayed their D.
there's a great dinardo misconception among LSU and opposing fans... LSU fans (most of them) compare him with hallman which is not the case. dinardo proved that you could win at LSU. saban just took it a step further and miles is continuing where nick left off. miles doesn't happen without saban. saban doesn't happen without dinardo.
What I find most ironic is that as much that $atan tried to take credit for LSU's current success, any success that he achieves at bama will ultimately laid at the feet of bama tradishun.
Seriously... You are completely full of manure and don't know what you are talking about. Use the search function and go back to the original Miles threads here and you'll find that A VERY FEW Tiger fans said things like "Miles will never amount to anything". That was the line LSU opponents put out on their boards. Most LSU fans here thought he was the best coach available and gto right on board. His handling of the Hurricane distractions put most of the rest on board. You are absolutely wrong in your assumption. Or you are just lying and trying to cause trouble. Yeah, well Miles went 11-2 twice with the players that Nick went 9-3 with. If you imagine that players alone win football games, then you don't know a damn thing about football. Les won with the players he inherited. Zook lost with the players he inherited from Spurrier. Dubose lost with the players he inherited from Stallings. I'll tell you something else, Les is recruiting better than Saban. There ain't going to be a drop-off when Nicks players are gone. Three of Miles' classes will be playing this year. That sad of "Winning with Nick's players line" is getting pretty damn lame. Incidentally, I think members with 1500 posts who are not contributors are freeloaders, especially when they only come here to put down our team and coaches. Trust me, we can live without you.
You come here just to insult our coach on every thread. Don't even dream about telling one of our contributors what to say.
