Hey, I get my fair of exposure to FSU. They always recruit well. Now that they have a real offensive coordinator on board, FSU is no longer a slouch. Plus, Chuck Amato is back in the fold to teach that D. It'll be a game in which FSU should be the favorite anyway. And Arkansas will be a threat next year to any team as long as Felix Jones and Darren McFadden are lining up on offense.

Miles had a great first class at LSU & he had just as much time as Saban to recruit. It was a very small class (due to a large number of seniors on the team) so it wasn't ranked that high but the average star rating was very good. Miles also managed to land Ryan Perrilloux the "Joe McKnight" of that recruiting season in that amount of time even though he was a Texas commit & would've stayed one had Saban still been our coach.

You won't finish considerably behind us because Rivals grossly overestimates your classes. Saban is a good recruiter & will land some good players, but Saban will never have a class at Bama that would make LSU jealous.

Alabama just fired a coach one year removed from a ten win season, who won six games while under heavy probation, pot meet kettle

I have always given the credit to LSU and even been called a "suck up" to this board many times. Since you only have 9 posts, you've missed all that. I'm the gump that's hated by many and liked by very few on this board. I'm not even on TideFans because many of those on there even annoy the hell outta me. But yeah, I give props where props are due...If you guys win, you win fair and square.

It's all good, I didn't mean to offend, but there have been a large amount of not just defending saban, but tearing down miles and LSU, the latter bothers me much more than the former. don't let the small posts fool you, I've been lurking for years!!

you can't group all the LSU fans together. I don't hate saban like some of the others. i respect his coaching abilities and his recent actions have me losing respect for him as a person. i will relish every victory we get against him and anguish over every loss. i understand that he didn't leave us for bama but to go to the nfl and found out the nfl wasn't for him. had he come back and coached another team in another conference i would've wished him well. but he ended up at bama, the enemy. so he is now my enemy as a tiger fan.

the real shame for us and him was had he not left in the 1st place then maybe LSU would have :crystal: :crystal: :crystal: .

as for miles, most on this board attack anyone who criticizes him way before saban showed up in t-town.
i think this year more than ever will be miles' chance to win with mostly his players. as for the years to come, les has been restocking the cupboard every year with great new recruits. miles and saban aren't in direct competition for the same kids like saban will be with tubby and richt. there may be a little crossover but that's one area i'm not too worried about saban besting miles in (especially in la. and texas).

as for a a gameday coach, i like saban a little better but when i think back to saban's best two years and the last two with miles they are very similar. saban had his share of errors but they were looked past because of his success. i remember fla. beating us in '03 with the tailback running free out of the backfield more than once. i saw us get embarrassed (in person) against UGA. miles lost to tenn. ( a few weeks after katrina) UGA (without his starting qb), to auburn on the road and got screwed by the refs and to florida on a day in which his team had 5 turnovers.
now i personally think Russell deserves more credit than miles but time will tell. after two seasons, i like my chances with miles in a state where there's the flagship and no one else to compete with.

saban just made it apparent that LSU was a sleeping giant program. les miles can continue to prove him right.

lastly i hope both LSU fans and Bama fans don't feel like saban chose bama over LSU. as i remember, our job wasn't open, but if let's say michigan tanked this season and miles left for ann arbor, nick would have been back here with his beloved coonasses. i promise you. saban just wanted out of pro football and bama had a spot open. that's what happened.

but i don't mind the way it worked out. miles has a new offense to install with a new qb and but talent a plenty to work with. saban has to build a program in the same state as auburn who's a premier program right now. i like our chances more and more especially more when nick opens his mouth.

so that's one fan's 2cents on the situation. i don't despise nick, but he'll never get cheers from me (unless it helps LSU).

This is from the bama is back crowd when the run to the Cotton Bowl was made? When the warts were there to see by all, they were denied voraciously. Are you willing to denounce the #3 ranking as just another undeserved accolade toss forth by uniformed voters? The dump Shula bandwagon was just as quick to be followed. Now $atan as savior is the mindset of the day. Blind and mercurial, what else can you call it?

Now you have a coach who is trying to recapture his past glory. But my, the landscape has changed. Foundations have been built, playing fields leveled. And even the past successes of $aban do not measure up to the expectations laid on the shoulders of little nick. What to do?

The response thus far has been grandstanding bravado, claims of it is better to be hated than ignored. It is nothing more than the vernacular that belongs to the unsubstantiated.

The same way I would feel regardless of who Bama's coach is.

How will you feel if Bama loses games to LSU and AU each of the next 3-4 years, and never finishes higher than 3rd in the west? You do realize that Tub-o-Chit has a winning record against Saban don't you? Are you also aware that Huston Nutt has even given Saban some problems? Not sure when y'all play Carolina again, but Saban never beat Spurrier either. In fact, he even lost a home game to Ron Zook with a national championship team.
Look at it like this, his last couple of years here, his only big name coaching opponent every year was Tuberville. Now he has to Face Mile, Tuberville, and Phat Phuck Phil.

You want the truth, I'll give you the truth. As many people here know, I was NEVER a Saban fan. However, I am grateful that he won LSU a NC and got LSU back on the map. But I never thought he was a great coach. Besides our NC year, LSU never lost fewer than 3 games while NS was the coach. I didn't even blame him for leaving to the NFL. Who wouldn't want the chance at coaching in the NFL and winning a Super Bowl. That's every coach's dream. I didn't hate the man by any means, I just didn't think he was a great coach.

But now, I have NO RESPECT for the man. Not because he chose to go to Bama, but it's the way he went about it.

A month or so before he took the Bama job, he told the Dolphin organization and the entire world that he WAS NOT leaving for Alabama. You don't do that, sorry. If he didn't like the job, he should have taken the road that Spurrier and Davis took....take a year off and then come back to coaching. That I would have had respect for, not lying about it like a coward.

Then after getting the Bama job, he said he wouldn't come after LSU recruits. Another lie. I knew he was gonna come after them, any coach would, it's their job. But again, im not mad because he came after our recruits, it's the way he went about it. He bad-mouthed LSU to anyone who would listen. I can't believe he had the nerve to talk bad about a university that treated him like royalty while he was here. He has NO CLASS at all.

I hope ya'll enjoy your new head coach, Bama deserves him! :cuss:
