With talent at every other position, why would you not want talent at QB??

Why has Flynn not had a fair shot before? He got injured last spring which set him back, but JaMarcus got hurt during the season & played through it. JaMarcus earned his playing time last season & so did Flynn. Draw what you will about the amount of time each one got.

Flynn got more than a fair opportunity in the Capitol One Bowl - comming in before JaMarcus and given several plays to see what he could do but he didn't perform. JaMarcus had to come in because Flynn wasn't cutting it. That's the truth of the matter.

Have you noticed that you haven't heard ONE thing out of RP since coming to LSU? All this smacktalk from him before he gets here and none once he arrives? Why? As I stated earlier - his head is spinning. You want to believe what an 18 year old tells you on campus is your business.

You're all missing the point here. Our offense will be better. There will not be so many "conservative" plays. Now don't get me wrong - no fancy crap on 3rd down...on 3rd and 1, it's 2 te's and Steltz leading the way - we should not be stopped on short yardage all year! Did you hear this animal Steltz broke the team record for bench press - 560lbs?!?! 1 solid QB is all we need.

I have no idea either, and would love to get some insight on this. Like CParso said, Flynn hasn't shown a single thing. Granted, he hasn't been given a lot of opportunities, but in the limited ones he's had, he did not impress.

It's also very easy to forget that Russell was a redshirt FRESHMAN last year. FRESHMAN. Not a junior, not a senior. The same lessons that apply for Russell will likely apply to Perrilloux, but we can all hope for the absolute best from these guys.

I think that's a big leap. No soundbites does not necessarily mean "head spinning." It could be that he's -- GASP -- growing up a bit or the staff is keeping him away from the media.

Now that is absurd! I know who to call if my car gets stuck in a ditch! :thumb: That's great news though...blocking fullback is probably the most underappreciated position for the running AND passing games.

Everyone here can guess all they want, have inside info all they want, it will
come down to who the coach thinks will give this team the best chance to win games......who that is I really have no idea, I'm pulling for all of them because it won't matter if they start or not, they are all LSU TIGERS.
Some people in here almost put down certain guys because they really hope someone else becomes the starter......most don't, but we can pull for them all.....thats all I'm trying to say. :D

I haven't heard one thing from RP because now that he's on LSU's campus the coaches can limit what he says & who he says it too. What I have read is that he realizes how good of a QB JaMarcus is & is working hard to catch up with JaMarcus & Flynn. What do you make of Les Miles' quote that he would play a QB with special talents (aka - run/run & pass) to give the team an advantage?? I chose to believe cgisclair because what he says is in line with what coach Miles has said.

I don't think I'm missing the point. The thread is titled "THE QUARTERBACK."

From what I understand... it will be 15-20 plays... sometimes just 2-3 plays here or there, or sometimes a whole drive...

Just to keep the defense in check/get his feet wet...

Also to spell JaMarcus... b/c Les noted his problems with cramps etc, or wearing down at the end of games... so they will spell him here or there to help him out...

I think that any statement about a promise or guarantee of playing time is total BS, and not from RP.

This was not a promise or guarantee, but a "plan". Coaches make those, you know?
