1. And I know a certain group of people will bash me and say that I am just a RP homer, but I talked to him the other day, and he was told by the staff that, that was gonna be the plan for him in all likely-hood, so there is a method to my madness.
  2. Disagree. I think whoever starts gets to play the entire time until pulled for the other.
  3. dude seriously...Perrilloux's head is spinning from trying to learn our new offense. Jamarcus has great talent - no doubt. But Matt Flynn knows this new system the best (to date). LSU will actually call more than one play at a time this year. It's the QB's responsibility to read the D at the line and make the call. At this point in camp, Flynn is in the lead. Again, no doubt JR has more talent - the dude warms up by throwing the ball 100 yards. At this point in the summer, it's Flynn's job to lose (that's the word around the campfire anyway - things could always change tomorrow.)
  4. I'll take something I heard from the actual person over campfire news! :)
  5. You are the only person I've heard say that this is Flynn's job to lose. What campfire are you sitting around?

If it's anyone but JaMarcus, I'll be worried.

Matt Flynn has done nothing on the field to make anyone think that he will be a better QB than JaMarcus. That includes all of last season, which I don't think he made any excellent throws during (X-man managed to haul one of his passes 60 yards though) & this spring, which included 2 interceptions & not one thrown touchdown.

Nothing the coaches have said have lead me to believe it will be Flynn either. In an interview with Jimbo, he talked far longer about JaMarcus.

Judging from what Miles said at SEC Media days, that if one QB's particular skills give us an advantage he'll get to play - cgisclair is on the money that Perrilloux will get a DJ Shockley type rotation in. Oh, that & the fact that cgisclair talked to the man himself.
  6. How can it be his job to lose because of summer work-outs? Summer work-outs are 7 on 7 & running, & coaches are not allowed to be at any of the practices. I guess the training staff is relaying the progress of the athletes. :D
  7. I just want a QB that does not try and take this whole team on his shoulders and win. This team is talented enough to just need a field general that can know the play book and utilize the massive talent pool around him. I have said it before, the last 5-7 years of national champions have not had outstanding QBs. Just give me a QB that can remain calm and in control and get the ball to the talent that is open.

Flynn certainly came in with the brains and those talents. He just needs a fair opportunity. JR's immaturity last year had him trying to do everything himself versus relaxing and letting the game come to him and utilizing the talent that surrounded him. Maybe he has matured more this off-season than the last 2.

RP has shown the bravado that he thinks he can win the national championship and Heisman himself and then move to the next level. While confidence is important LSU is not desperate enough this year to deploy that plan. Better for RP to learn slowly at the next level. I know Cgisclair thinks RP is not going to miss a beat but Major Division 1 ball is a lot faster and much more complicated. North Texas and AS is one thing, but UT will come in flying around and disguising Defenses a lot better than any LHSAA team. It would be nice to have a freak of nature at QB but not the most important component of LSU having a successful season.
  8. why does everyone think that Flynn has all the brains and that JR is lazy? Inside sources?
  9. Hate to say it - but I doubt it's based on anything other than people's preconceptions.

People say Flynn can read defenses & he's smart, but has he shown that? No.
  10. USC's QB is pretty outstanding & would have been a top 5 pick in the draft. JR is smart & has learned the system. MF had every opportunity in the spring to win the job, but JR preformed better. If JR goes down then MF will be very capable as his replacement.
