My neighbor (next valley over) from my App State days. Doc grew up poor and hated the travel associated with his playing. It took time away from his family. He said one of his proudest days was when he took his welfare check back and told them he wouldn't need it anymore. Can you imagine anyone today taking the check back?
Saw this guy a couple weeks ago. Totally forgot about it then got a random email mentioning him so I guess that means I should post him. Johnny Boogie Long He was very impressive btw. Good voice too.
Where did you see him? I heard he plays sometimes at the Sunday night blues jam at the Fat Cat Saloon in Prairievilke.
Previous post made me think of this guy. Used to him at blues clubs some 30 years ago. He's still at it.
