As some of you may know, the Raiders are playing horrible on offense, AGAIN!! And after back-to-back horrible performances by C-pep and nothing better from McCown, who is injured btw, the JaMarcus Russell chants have began in Oakland. A big percentage of their fan base is saying throw him in there and let him learn since there is no hope for making the play offs.
Now although it seems he's still far from playing his first NFL down considering he's on a 4 QB roster and that he missed all of training camp, it is becoming very possible. The past week, Russell passed Andrew Walter on the depth chart, and suited up for his first NFL game today as a third string QB. And as I said, McCown is injured and Culpepper is playing horrible. So it might be as close as next week against the Texans.
What do you guys think? Should he start, or should they let him wait?
I beleive he should start, I just dont buy into let him observe from the bench crap. Peyton Manning played all 16 games as a Rookie, he ended up winning only three. Sounds ugly, but if you look at him now, he's the best in the league. And because Russell is a "franchise" QB, I dont see any problem with letting him train on the field against real NFL defenses and real NFL tempo. Some say he would get killed behind that O-line, but who are we kidding. If guys like McCown and Culpepper (with a bum knee) can handle it, JaMarcus can obviously handle it. He maybe the strongest QB in the league.

Whether or not he should play depends a lot on how well he has learned the playbook.

If JR was smart, he'd still be holding out...

Why? It's not likely he would have improved his draft status.:hihi:

I have no problems with him leaving. It's playing behind that horrible offensive line in Oakland that's the cause for concern.
