I had the Abita black IPA at Bulldog Saturday night.

I really don't know how to describe it, but I wasn't a fan. Which isn't suprising since I don't really care for IPAs.

This is how The Bulldog described it: "made with a combination of pale, caramel, chocolate and black malts.....this gives the beer a very dark color and strong roasted malt flavor. And a 7% ABV, a nice little kick as well!"

    So speaking of beer....

For those of you who like a good stout, try Lion Stout. It's a bit pricey ($11 bucks a six pack at Ralph's Market), but it's one of the best stouts I think I've ever had. Brewed in Sri Lanka (Ceylon Brewery) and is a respectable 8.8%, though you'd hardly know by how smooth it is. If you see it somewhere and you like that kind of beer, do yourself a favor and pick up a six pack. Chances are you won't be disappointed.

Also something good of note, I was in Atlanta last week for a tradeshow and had dinner one night at a place called Seven Sisters. They brew their own beer and apparently the brewmaster used to be the brew master for Sweetwater.. Anyway, I had an IPA there called "Hoppgasm" and it was pretty damned tasty as well. I think it was around 7% and not too harsh for my taste, though I kind of like those hoppy beers..

I had a good stout last night, Hitachino Espresso Stout. I also had one I did not care for called Heaven and Hell.

Well, I'm pretty damned near perfect then, aren't I?

On a note related to this thread, I went to The Londoner last week to try Lazy Magnolia Indian Summer that had been infused with lavender and chamomile.

It was not good. Very flat. Tasted like an alcoholic tea.
