1. Who do you feel that at the end of the year we might say "Dam that kid had a hell of a year and we never expected it"? Who are some of you guys suprise players of the season?
  2. Offense: Jacob Hester
Defense: Melvin Oliver (if stays healthy)

I see Hester having a big year for the reason that together, Jimbo and Les will use all of our weapons on offense. He is a big RB playing FB. Get him in the open field or out on a swing pass and he will make things happen.

Melvin Oliver has been waiting to break open. He led the team in sacks his freshman year and is waiting to shine again. The Cap-1 bowl was a nice preview of what he is able to do. He is very athletic and quick. If he stays healthy, I think it is very easy to say he will have a 10+ sack season.
  3. I think Chris Jackson's improvement will be shocker, but Sammy Joseph is my major impact player.
  4. Justin Vincent... He will have the massive cutback lanes that he had in 2003 but lacked last year. Also, the backside pursuit will respect the qb on the playaction, so they will be less likely to make the stop from the backside... JV is the master of the cutback run.
  5. Wow, damned good ones thrown out there. I'd like to think that this is Amp Hill's year to make some noise too.
  6. im still rooting for xavier carter... I really want the coaches to use his talent to the teams advantage. oh yeah and no more kneels on the one...
  7. cameron vaughn... I dunno what people are expecting from him... maybe he's expected to do great things??? I havent heard much noise about him. watch out for him.
  8. Early Doucet, he has a year of experience at WR under his belt, now he can focus on making plays.
  9. I don't think there will be any true "suprises" because we all expect such good things from these kids. They were all highly recruited & have the potential to be great, so we might just be waiting for them to become a star. Basically, I think that includes the entire offense because last year was so lack-luster(sp?). Russell should have a great season, combined with great seasons for ALL of our WR's. Each & every one of them should improve on last year. I expect Green to have a big senior year after nagging injuries from last year - I just hope he doesn't rush it again. Bowe was primed for his breakout year last season but was a slight dissapointment & should be much improved this year. With a year under their belts, Xavier Carter & Early Doucet should be AWESOME. I look for Doucet to have his break out year & become a Michael Clayton level receiver. Carter may still be a year away from break out status but his speed should allow him to have a heck of a year anyway. Right now, it's hard to say about Amp Hill. We all hope he becomes the receiver he is capable of being, but I don't know enough about the strength of his knee to say that he'll be ready for this comming season.

Like Veritas, I am expecting a big year from Hester.

I also think that Luke Sanders could be a hell of a player if he stays healthy & I think Miles will be looking for someone like him to be a linebacker.

At the end of last season, I was touting Vincent's horn just like loco & for the same reasons, but Justin didn't have the kind of Spring I was hoping for - so I think he'll be the 3rd string RB, but still should be able to get near the 500 yard mark for next season.

I think all of our kickers will be much, MUCH better. Miles puts a good bit of emphasis on special teams and I think it could be one of our strong points this comming season.

Also, the people that think Broussard will be a Heisman candidate (or atleast, should be) - I think will be suprised by Addai being used as the primary back. Addai will have a HUGE year. I still expect Broussard to be unstoppable, but not used as often as some people might think.
  10. I hope that when Jackson doesn't have to punt anymore, his improved kicking game will surprise everybody.
