1. The best thing the university can do is air out its laundry. Its a sign that the systems in place are working. The compliance dept runs a pretty good operation, and they routinely educate players and staff on all regulations. Sometimes you get a bad egg. It happens. The bad part about this is its another event occuring under Skip's regime.

Since this is tied to the guy from Houston that was arrested last week, sounds like that agent rolled over on this staffer, not that it makes it OK to do what he was allegedly involved in.
  2. That would lead you to believe that the NCAA and SEC were somehow involved with the investigation. I hope so and I hope this is all that comes out of the situation.
  3. On the news just now they said he was a former assistant at LSU and current residence is listed in Cali. 2 Players said that he brought them to his and were introduced to his former agent unexpectedly and then the agent tried to meet the players at a local resturant to convince them to sign with his company.

Seems that the players came out and put a stop to his attempts. These actions are only illegal according to Louisiana law. You have to get permission from AD to talk to student-athletes.

I think that LSU caught this situation before it got bad and LSU will self report if any NCAA rules were broken. I felt better about the incident from what I saw on the news, I just hope it gets better from here as more information comes.

  4. This is the third time I have attempted to send this post. If this one does not take, the devil with it.

We dip into savings for a lot of reasons, not all of them good. As far as the cost of attorneys, you hire what you can afford. Most attorneys are more than competent. Also, most attorneys will work out an acceptable payment plan. If not, get a loan. But to say that the taxpayer should foot the bill, that is really absurd. That would just allow attorneys to up their fees since the state is paying for it. Not a good idea. Of course the attorneys would love it.
  5. yeah it was only two students and they weren't aware at first. after they became aware they put a stop to it.

i don't believe this will damage the program at all. in fact, it looks really good on the program to have the players report it.
  6. Hopefully no big deal-- it's not like someone rented a house for a player's family or something.
  7. You can see the Auburn posters getting a little excited about the news with all the crap we gave them about giving grades to their players.

Sorry we might have to dissappoint you.:hihi:
  8. ok, I'm not a lawyer but how can the state of louisiana tell someone who they can and can't talk to? That makes no sense to me.
  9. And believe me, you get what you pay for.

    Never did.

It's a flat percentage of what the jury awards.

Not true, and most want to settle out of court- too lazy to do the work involved in trying it. That's why there are so many lawyers not practicing.

I don't want to be a diversion from the intent of the thread; therefore, this is my last post on that subject. Peace brother!
  10. If the state of Louisiana allows you to go to their school for free and play on their football team, I would think that would give them a little leeway... not sure though...
